  1. If you are picking it up today, I doubt you will be reading this, more likely out enjoying the new toy! Welcome to the site Chris.
  2. Hi and welcome Hope you enjoy the community. Chris.

  4. Hi, Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the community. Chris.
  5. Well, we bought a roadster, as it was a replacement for the missus car, which was an MX5, we just couldnt bear to be without the fun of top down motoring in the summer. There would, for us, always be that moment in the heat of summer, even though we were in a 350Z, that we would look across to the convertible xr3i or 206, and think to ourselves - damn, wish we had the convertible now. I have to agree with others though, with the top up, it most certainly hasnt got the looks of the coupe, but with the top down, its just great. We took the coupe for a test drive, but always wanted a roadster, and bought a roadster without even having driven one. The funniest point for me is that due to the rake of the rear window on the coupe, and the almost vertical position of the window on the roadster, I actually find that the visibility is better in the roadster than the coupe. The rear quarter though is another matter. Both myself and the missus have questioned our decision to go for the roadster, usually on days that it has rained, but then again on days like the wales drive out and other meets, we couldnt have been happier with our choice. The only thing that I dont like, is that without some form of kit or spoiler, the bum of the roadster looks (and is) very big. So thats on the agenda to fix by way of a spoiler of kit at some time. Only you will be able to make the decision, but my advice would be to try and get a test drive of a roadster when you have the chance to put the roof down for a while, perhaps on a sunny day (hard to find now).
  6. Is this a standard warranty or an aftermarket (or some form of extended) warranty? The drivers seat runers are not consumable parts, so I would have thought those would be covered. In my opinion, the trim above the door is also not a consumable part, and should also be covered in my opinion. Also it is my personal opinion is that the trim above the door has three tenths of bugger all to do with the mileage of the car, and more the number of times the door is opened or the weather it has to contend with. Sounds very much like they are trying to wriggle out of the repairs. I would be reading the smallprint, and asking them to identify which particular points allow them to refuse the repairs.
  7. Anyone else find it quite flattering to have the 350Z in a calendar alongside several of those other exotics featured?
  8. I watched minority report recently and wondered how long it would be before technology like that became a reality. Not that long by the looks of it The only part I didnt like was the fact that the clear screens allowed people at the back of your monitor to see what was on your screen!
  9. Sorry I couldnt be there - looks like you had a fantastic day!
  10. Chubbs and Mark? Its obvious Hi - Chubbs here! Sarnie, I've not posted on this site recently, despite the NUMEROUS misrepresentations I've read about me and the owners' club on the 'Banned' thread, but I will correct this one - Neither Mark nor I have ever been on the http://www.DELETED.com committee, and we are not now. We are NOT committee members, so you can stop saying that we are, because you're wrong. I think you'll find that Chesterfield is not talking about me, but as you've got some kind of agenda against me you assume it is me. Best wishes Chubbs ps - this will be my only post here, you'll be pleased to hear, unless people make up some more stories about me!!! I can confirm, just so people do not go condeming an innocent man, it was NOT chubbs or Mark that passed the derogatory comment against all members of this site. And Im not doing a process of elimination either so dont ask.
  11. And again, rather than address my questions you simply accuse me of stiring, while all the time continuing to post here in a manner that is clearly designed to provoke. Is that not just the slightest bit hypocritical? Are you going to address my questions? Ill answer yours if you like... Who registered the domain name? The DELETED.co.uk domain name was registered by a person on 28 december 2005, who later became member of this site and chose to point it here. The 350z-uk.com domain name was registered on the 2nd January 2006. Until mid January, 350z-uk.com existed solely on my own personal web space from my ISP, where 4 individuals were discussing whether or not to even create the site. None of those 4 was the owner of DELETED.co.uk. That person joined the site some time later, obviously decided he liked it, and pointed the .co.uk domain name to the site. Why did he register it?? That person registered it for his or her own reasons. Perhaps they felt that their opinions or suggestions had not been listened to over on the OC, and registered it with the intention of pointing it to any competitors site if one was ever created, perhaps they just registerd it to sit on it, and prove a point that the people who spent an alleged 8 months designing the "club" had failed to even cover such details as registering the .co.uk domain at the same time? Does www.pepsi.co.uk point to coca-cola's site for example? Who started the sh1t stirring!!! Well thats a tough one - its been going on that long its hard to tell. The first time the DELETED.co.uk domain name was discussed, it was on the OC site, where we were obviously called all the names under the sun. If you consider that a 350Z owner (me) asking a question of why refferences or links to other 350z related material on another uk site are deleted on the OC, then yes, Im guilty of @*!# stiring. Let me ask you this - if another member on he OC, perhaps even one who is not a member of this site, were to ask the very same question "why do you remove links to other uk based 350Z sites that owners may find usefull?", would they too be guilty of sh1t stirring? Until that question is answered by the powers that be, then as an owner, I will keep pondering the answer. Furthermore I would suggest that anyone else who owns a 350Z that doesn´t understand why 350Z related links are removed on a site promoting itself as an "owners club" ask the same question. Because I sure as hell dont know. Who felt the the need to set up another site??? Im not going to name names, but there were several of us. I posted some time ago how this site came to exist, and quite honestly I dont wish to type it all out again. You can read it here: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=11002 Perhaps, in somewhat of a reversal of that question, you can tell me (as I honestly have no clue as to the answer), why the powers that be on the OC felt the need to create another site instead of leaving the old site in place? Then spend more time stirring things there than he does on his own site?? Why???? Somewhat of a reitteration of the "sh1t stirring" question, but none the less... I have a postcount of some 2400+ here, and about 30 on the OC. I think it is quite clear which site I spend most of my time on. Again, if asking questions as an owner, or contributing in context to a thread is "stirring" then please forgive me. Though I feel given that you have chosen not to answer any of my points with anything even resembling a reasoned answer, I may be flogging somwehat of a dead horse trying to make this clear. If you are comfortable in your own space why invade someone elses????? Am I a 350Z owner? Yes. So am I not allowed to visit the 350Z UK "Owners Club" purely because I contribute to this forum? Is this just for the admins here, or the mods too? what about the members of this site? Are those owners not welcome on the "owners club" either, purely because they post here too? Is having access to two different sources of information harmful in any way? If you are comfortable with the OC, why keep asking questions of me here? If you would rather take this debate onto the OC then feel free, though again sadly I doubt that half of what I have posted above would be allowed to remain in tact on the OC. Perhaps, as you are not a mod or committee member on the OC, and as they dont come here very often, you could answer this question then come back and provide an answer.... Why cant this discussion be had on the OC? Why, every time a discussion or thread similar to this or even discussing the existence of this site pops up on the OC, is it deleted, edited or locked promptly? What exactly are they afraid of? Why do you feel the need to post, when none of the com members post here???? Because, I would like an answer from the powers that be on the OC to the points I raise. They can either answer my posts on the OC, where they have the ability to "control" the thread, or unfortunately for the OC (as has happened here), the debate will take place here - where it will not be controlled to the OC´s interest. Or maybe the comittee are just flat out afraid of posting here, as they may be ostracised by other members of the committee simply for showing their face on another UK forum. Given the attitude I have experienced of some committee members toward this site, then I wouldnt find it surprising for anyone posting here to be black balled on the OC. Perhaps, rather than asking why I or others feel the need to post there, you should ask why the committee dont post here? Actually, and forgive me this interlude.... A "high ranking" member of the OC once wanted to get in on a group buy that this site was running, but when they were informed that they would have to have their name added to the list on this site, they werent too keen on joining any more. Why? I dont know. I AM NOT A COMMITTEE MEMBER OR A MOD just someone like lots of peeps here enjoy driving my car, and mainly stay on my own site until some dick comes there and trys to stirs things up.......... like CHESTERFIELD HAS DONE ON TOO MANY OCCASIONS And we return to the "stirring". Again, as a 350Z owner, am I not allowed to question why 350Z related items are censored on a 350Z uk "owners club" site? My posts are deleted time and time again on the OC, often just leaving the statements of others calling me a "stirrer" or "troublemaker". Did you actually get to read my post the other night before it was deleted? Perhaps you could do us all a big favour and point out exactly what part was "sh1t stirring"? Or is asking tricky questions now classed as "sh1t stirring"? Is pointing out my personal experience of post deleteion, to a moderator that had just posted in big fat sarcastic letters that they dont delete posts due to differences of opinion, classed as sh1t stirring? Yet again, I feel I may have wasted my time here, as undoubtedly any response will be along the lines of "sh1t stirrer" or "we dont want you" etc etc. I was in all honestly hoping for some kind of debate on the censorship issue or perhaps an apology from the committee member that passed a derogatory comment on all members of this site. Perhaps even an apology from the member on the OC that wanted to see other owners Blue Tooth kit fail, simply because they bought it froma trade on this site. As my warning level has been raised to 100% on the OC, simply for asking questions, then perhaps we should just have the debate on this site where it cant be swept under the carpet? Perhaps, if and when other members or, God forbid, committee members themselves start asking the same questions I ask, the powers that be on the OC may have to start thinking of an answer. Its only a matter of time before others start posing difficult questions too, rather than just one person you can easily dismiss as a troublemaker. What will the committee do when that time arrises - brandish them all as trouble makers? Start banning or suspending members en masse?
  12. And my contributions on other topics would back this theroy up, or once again did you decide to skip this fact? The reason that was provided as to why we could not combine both clubs on this date was due to the fact that discount tickets for the D1 event were being given to members. As this event was switched to trax instead, can you advise exactly why we couldnt combine the two? Or why non paying members could not attend? As far As I see there was no reason to exclude people after D1 switched dates and events. No, I mean that the web link www.350z-uk.com is removed at every given opportunity on the OC. Either purposefuly to try and hide this sites existence from 350Z owners, or out of some futile king canute style effort to refute its very existence. Either way, not in the best interest of 350Z owners in my opinion. If you want to be slightly technical about the DELETED.co.uk refference, then you ma do well to look up the dates that the domain was registered, and compare it to the date the name for this site was registered. Now unless the owner of DELETED.co.uk is also in possesion of a crystal ball, then there is no way it could have been purchased with the explicit intention of pointing it here. As "here" didnt exist at the time it was registered. I think this has been covered above. If it was due to legal reasons, then I would think it considerably dangerous for the Owners club to have Nissan copyrighted TSB material inside pay per view sections, wouldnt you? And your posts here all night have been in the spirit of harmony have they? Have you actually taken the time to answer any of the points raised about censorship and the comments made by the committee moderators about our site, or are you choosing like others to ignore them?
  13. Sorry childish typo VHPD7 = CGOS6 obvious i thought P.s. good luck, don't know how many members you will lose if your successful, but hopefully a lot.............. then another new site.............. my opinion of course. i am not a committee member or mod on www.DELETED.com GAZ £%) oops Please tell me why you would expect us to lose a lot of members purely because steve may be successful in his application? Also, why would you hope for another 350Z community to lose a lot of its members? Are you saying you would like to see another group of 350Z owners dissadvantaged by lower post numbers and contributions? And you believe this to be in the interest of 350Z owners? Perhaps also, you could answer just one more, then we can get back to the topic of steves application.... Notice how your link to DELETED is allowed to remain in tact. If someone posts a link to this site on the OC, why is it not allowed to remain? Now if you can answer that, whilst still keeping a 350Z owners interests at heart, then I offer congratulations, as no-one to this day has been able to do so. PS: Sarnie, as far as I can see sunny´s posts are not being deleted. Probably my long responses causing the posts to be lost in the length of the thread, sorry...
  14. Sorry, BUT WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO EVEN POST THERE???? YOU KNOW YOUR NOT WELCOME (THAT'S MY OPINION AS A NON COMMITTEE MEMBER OR MOD). ALL YOU DO IS TRY AND STIR THINGS UP........... WHAT HAPPENED TO THE JOINT MEET!!! AND BUILDING BRIDGES?????? DO YOU CALL IT BUILDING BRIDGES BY POSTING LIKE THAT??? DO ANY OF THE COMMITTEE COME HERE AND POST???? NO?? YOUR ONLY REASON TO POST WAS (IN MY OPINION) TO LAY THE FIELD FOR CGOS6!!!!! GAZ 350 (IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW CGOS6?) Ok I shall answer your points as best I can. I feel the need to post there, as I am an owner of a 350Z, and heavily involved with a community for other 350Z owners. As such, when I see other 350Z related sites being effectively "hidden" from other owners, I feel that those owners are not being treated with the respect they deserve. I do not post intentionally to stir things up, but it would appear that the chaos created whenever I post a question of that nature, invariably results in me being branded a trouble maker, rather than having any point raised answered. You will find that I have contributed on other threads without raisng any questions or comments, and simply joined in like any other owner. Perhaps, given this post of yours, you could answer the same question? was your earlier post not intended as a pop at me, or an attempt (quite successful one) at getting me to bite? Do any of the committee come here and post? I dont know? Some members have joined here as well as the OC (and vice verca), I dont particularly know who is in the committee and who isnt. What did happen to the national meet? I dont know, it seemed to fizzle out, was it my responsibility to organise it? Why we couldnt have joined the OC a couple of months ago I dont know - the D1 finals were moved to trax after all, so it would have been a great opportunity. My only reason to post today, was that I had a lazy afternoon here in Cozumel. Im in a time zone 6 hours behind the UK. Do you actually think I stayed up until 3am to post on the OC purposely to cause trouble? Do you think I have spent my holiday in cahoots with Steve in an attempt to undermine the OC? Flattering as that may be, it is wrong. And Im only posting here now because its raining, Ive finished my book and the bar hasnt opened again yet. I have not discussed this with Steve at all, but after reading his post I do support him. I thinks its probably a difficult task he has set himself though.
  15. I shall not post it up, as I dont want to take it any further at present. The party responsible knows what they said, and they know what they have said today. In a slight correction to my previous post, it may not be the same committee member who made todays comment, as made the one a few months ago. They may or may not read this board and if they have not or can not register for technical or political reasons, then I would be denying them the right of reply, which would be ever so slightly hypocritical of me. All I will say on the matter now is that as long as people like that exist in the hierachy of another community, then I personally feel Steve and any other who wishes to see harmony exist or any joining come to fruition, will sadly have a very difficult job ahead. If anyone wants to discuss this privately then so be it, but I will not name names. By the way, these are personal views of mine, and may not necessarily be the view of any or all of the other team members here. Im posting on this thread as a member, not as any kind of spokesperson for the forum as a whole.
  16. Could you please explain to me what is "dodgy" about asking why refferences to another UK based 350Z site when posted in context with the thread, are removed, although it is not against the rules? Bear in mind this was (ironic as it may be) a thread discussing the removal or editing of posts by moderators simply because they didnt like the content. Would you also like me to post up todays insulting PM to myself from a committee member, which also gives an insight into how valued all the "non paying" members are on the OC? Or perhaps ask why that person is still a committee member after making a very derogatory comment about all the members of this site? I would suggest however, in the interest of keeping this thread on topic, that this can of worms remain sealed, and we simpy discuss Steves application and assist where possible, as his motives seem genuine and honorable.
  17. This has been discussed in person with Steve I beleive, and Im certain I spoke with Steve at JAE regarding all sorts of matters. In my personal opinion, I think that the joining together, although it sounds great, would be opposed by many, and not just by people in one camp or another. I am sure that there would be opposition to this move on both sides. The management of such a process could be very convoluted indeed, but anythings possible I suppose. Given some very abusive PM's I have previously and recently received from a member of the current committee, and the comments that person has previously levelled against this site and its members, I feel that Steve would have his work cut out attempting to change anything. Though if he has the brass tacks to stand up and try and make things better, then more power to him. I am not a paying member of the other site, but if I was then Steve would get my vote - he is a great guy.
  18. I think the "why" was, "why are the Rays and GT4 wheels wider on the rear?
  19. You get yours yet Sarnie? or has postman Val forgot you again?
  20. YES if it's a UK Z: also known as VDC If it's a JDM, depends on the model you got. It will always have ABS+EBD and TCS though Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is the generic term for systems designed to improve a vehicle's handling, particularly at the limits where the driver might lose control of the vehicle. Robert Bosch GmbH were the first to deploy an ESC system, called Elektronisches Stabilitätsprogramm (ESP®) that was used first by Mercedes-Benz and BMW in 1995. It was then introduced to the mass market by Continental Automotive Systems under the broader name of Electronic Stability Control, which is now the more common term recognized by the Society of Automotive Engineers, although individual motor manufactures use a range of different marketing names (see below). Operation ESC compares the driver's intended direction in steering and braking inputs, to the vehicle's response, via lateral acceleration, rotation (yaw) and individual wheel speeds. ESC then brakes individual front or rear wheels and/or reduces excess engine power as needed to help correct understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing). ESC also integrates all-speed traction control, which senses drive-wheel slip under acceleration and individually brakes the slipping wheel or wheels, and/or reduces excess engine power, until control is regained. ESC cannot override a car's physical limits. If a driver pushes the possibilities of the car's chassis and ESC too far, ESC cannot prevent a crash. It is a tool to help the driver maintain control. ESC combines anti-lock brakes, traction control and yaw control (yaw is spin around a vertical axis). To grasp how it works, think of steering a canoe. If you want the canoe to turn or rotate to the right, you plant the paddle in the water on the right to provide a braking moment on the right side. The canoe pivots or rotates to the right. ESC fundamentally does the same to assist the driver. Effectiveness Numerous international studies have confirmed the effectiveness of ESC in helping the driver maintain control of the car, help save lives and reduce the severity of crashes. In the fall of 2004 in the U.S., the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration confirmed the international studies, releasing results of a field study in the U.S. of ESC effectiveness. NHTSA concluded that ESC reduces crashes by 35%. The prestigious Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) later issued their own study that concluded the widespread application of ESC could save 7,000 lives a year. In June 2006, the IIHS updated the results of their 2004 study by stating that up to 10,000 fatal crashes could be avoided annually if all vehicles were equipped with ESC.[1] That makes ESC the greatest safety equipment development since seat belts, according to some experts. However, some people contend (backed up by the theory of risk compensation) that the perception of safety conferred by the ESC will encourage more dangerous driving, as seems to be the case with seat belts. Criticism Some driving enthusiasts, most publicly motoring journalists from enthusiast magazines, object to some of the implementations of ESC. They contend that by making it impossible to explore the dynamic behaviour of their cars, overzealous ESC systems spoil much of the fun of driving. Consequently, some manufacturers allow drivers to disable ESC systems, and/or use ESP systems that allow greater levels of under or oversteer before it intervenes. Some even provide a setting so the user can choose whether the system will intervene earlier or later stage. Enthusiasts have also begun to modify ESC systems to suit their preferred driving styles [2]. It has also been argued that ESC is being used as a "catch all" for poorly designed cars, whereby the basic mechanical handling of a car is unstable and ESC is used to fix the problem. Another point of critique is that in the case of very dangerous drivers, the car will be able to be pushed further (and faster) before the limits of the vehicle and ESC are reached, meaning that should the vehicle become "out of control" this will happen at higher speeds, leading to more severe crashes. Product Names Vehicle manufacturers use electronic stability control systems under different marketing names: * Acura: Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) * Alfa Romeo: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) * Audi: ESP - Electronic Stabilization Program * Buick: StabiliTrak * BMW: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), including Dynamic Traction Control * Cadillac: All-Speed Traction Control & StabiliTrak * Chevrolet: StabiliTrak (except Corvette - Active Handling) * Chrysler: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Dodge: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * DaimlerChrysler: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Fiat: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) * Ferrari: Controllo Stabilita (CST) * Ford: AdvanceTrac and Interactive Vehicle Dynamics (IVD) * GM: StabiliTrak * Hyundai: Electronic Stability Program * Honda: Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Holden: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Infiniti: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) * Jaguar: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) * Jeep: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Kia: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Land Rover: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) * Lexus: Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) systems * Lincoln: AdvanceTrak * Maserati: Maserati Stability Program (MSP) * Mazda: Dynamic Stability Control * Mercedes: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Mercury: AdvanceTrak * MINI Cooper: Dynamic Stability Control * Mitsubishi: Active Skid and Traction Control MULTIMODE * Nissan: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) * Oldsmobile: Precision Control System (PCS) * Opel: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Peugeot: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Pontiac: StabiliTrak * Porsche: Porsche Stability Management (PSM) * Renault: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Rover: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) * Saab: Electronic Stability Program * Saturn: StabiliTrak * SEAT: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Škoda: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Subaru: Vehicle Dynamics Control Systems (VDCS) * Suzuki: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Toyota: Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) * Vauxhall: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) * Volvo: Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) * VW: Electronic Stability Program (ESP) Future Electronic Stability Control forms the foundation for new advances on vehicle equipment that will save additional lives and give the driver still more control over the vehicle. The computing power of ESC facilitates the networking of active and passive safety systems on the car, creating the opportunity to address still more causes of crashes. In the US, the NHTSA is currently evaluating whether ESC should be mandatory on all passenger vehicles, due to the effectiveness noted above.
  21. I cant find a model of a blue roadster in RHD for love nor money.
  22. Id let the guys at paintshield remove it at the time of having the new stuff installed. You can guess what will happen if you remove it at home, you'll either make a mess, or on the drive over to have the new stuff fitted, you'll get a few chips - its sods law.
  23. While you are in there, get the vacuum in and get all the bits of leaves out. Dont try getting them out with the end of a wetted finger. It will take all day - I know.
  24. The Z is lovely car, but is does sometimes feel underpowered. But then again, you were trying it on against a 50k car. There will always be a bigger fish, and even some barry modified cars will be quicker. For style and speed though, I dont think there is much better than the Z for the money.
