GIXXERUK Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) certainly wouldn't do any harm, not sure of the service interval, use nissan oil and no molslip Edited October 15, 2014 by GIXXERUK Quote

Kaveney Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Thanks the same grade for the diff oil and the gear box oil ? Alan Quote
GIXXERUK Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) Manual Transmission API GL-4,Viscosity SAE 75W-85 Differential API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80W-90 You need GL-4 for the manual tranny and GL-5 for the rear diff. Some lubes do meet both specs. Clarkmotorsports sell the oem oil and will supply the correct spec next day also Cougar store Edited October 15, 2014 by GIXXERUK 1 Quote

The_Lord Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Can I ask why did you change the transmission oil and why do you want to change the diff oil too? Quote
GMballistic Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Can I ask why did you change the transmission oil and why do you want to change the diff oil too? I would say it is good practice to change the gearbox oil & diff oil at least every 30-50K miles under normal conditions ~ not necessarily a necessity but just good practice. Don't even think it's listed in the service schedule for the 350Z. How long the oil will last is anyone's guess as that will depend on working conditions, temperatures, water contamination (more so in humid climates), general use (hard or not), wear contaminants (like metal particles from gears) & more. Changing the gear oils in either the diff or gearbox is a lot cheaper than replacing the mechanical parts inside so it makes good sense to me to get it done on any new vehicle I own. My 2 pence worth. 2 Quote

jimmy1280 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Just to add mate I've just done both, mine 7 years old and done 33000 the gearbox oil looked brand new but the diff was very dark with small metal partials attached to the magnetic drain plug. Defo well worth doing for the peace of mind 3 Quote
