jonw246 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 My car seems to suffer from a strange blushing kind of effect underneath the clear coat when it rains, spots can appear in different places and shapes / sizes and disappear after a warm / sunny few days. (only noticed it on the hatch so far) I've never come across anything like this before, anyone know what it is or how to fix it? P.s. tried hitting it with compound and a DA but to no avail. jonw246 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 It's a 53 plate, but like I said in the OP the marks can come and go in various sizes and areas, if it was bird poo damage then it should have compounded out surely? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk Quote
jonw246 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 Not a clue, only owned the car for a couple of weeks, looks like original paint though imo Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk Quote
AliveBoy Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Hopefully someone like Ricey or Wasso will come along, they know a lot about paint Quote

AliveBoy Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 It could be many things, I'm thinking a respray in less than optimum conditions, maybe outside on a humid day, a lacquer repair or something. Ricey or Wasso should be able to point you in the right direction I know that Steve from Redline Styling had a paint specialist have a look at some issues with his cars paintworka while ago, maybe someone can analyse what it is for you, it could be expensive though Quote
jonw246 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 Yeah if it's anything too much hassle I'll leave it off for now as I need a few rust bubbles painting anyway so will get it sorted in one go hopefully Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk Quote
samsniss350z Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Why is it always red paint that seems to fade or show these 'waterspots' more than any other colour. I had the same thing happen on my last red 200SX S14, i could use Megs Ultimate Compound and it would look better until it rained. I don't know if a machine polish would cure it, the only way i got rid of it was to have the bonnet, roof and boot repainted. This was on a '97 car and was painted in '09. I know I'll never buy another red car again. I've seen more patchy, faded red cars than any other colour. Quote
Ricey Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 What's the last stage protection being used on the car at the moment mate? Quote
