Over heating

Hi, my 350z is boiling up. I don't mean alittle when driving hard or sitting in traffic. Drive 2miles and he's maxing the clock. I checked the temperature stat and it's opening ok. Thinking it could be the water pump?? Does the water pump go in 350z's. I have a 2003 z with 46k miles.

Thanks in advance for any info and guidance.

Stop panicking about how serious it could be.

Start simple and work up from there.

Go and see if both your cooling fans are working.

Its 30º in most of the country today so if they're both kaput you're gonna overheat quickly.

As said sounds like an air lock problem, have you recently drained any part of the cooling system?

However can you elaborate on the accuracy of the two mile drive from cold and the coolant temp is on max?

air locks often result in a cold reading on the gauge as if there is air around the sensor it will read cold.
