engine malfunction light came on, wont go off

light came on.have checked everything,nothing seems wrong,does anybody have any tips to get this light off,only last week ,airbag lights came on,but was able to fix it,thanks to the lads at the forum.

my car is a 2005 350z.

 

any tips

Do the pedal dance to read the code and then clear it.

pedal dance didn't work,tried disconnecting positive from battery-no work,tried 10 mins disconnection of negative -no work

 

any other idea ?????

Could be the hairspring in the steering wheel, that was my problem. Something to bear in mind if you have checked everything else - the old Sherlock Holmes thing, once you have eliminated the obvious etc...... (It can be an intermittent problem if it is broken but it does need fixing - it's not too difficult).

Buy a code reader or see if anyone has one to you locally that you could borrow.

 

The pedal dance will work but it does take some skill and a few trys, hence why I ended up buying a code reader...

how long would you have to disconnect your positive on your battery for it to go away.

The port for the reader is located by your right knee

If you use your phone to record when you do the pedal dance you can play it back and count the flashes of the lights which will give you the fault code.

just bought a code reader £10.00 off ebay.

I will use it anyway and at £10.00 well cheap.

easer than doing the pedal dance.

Pedal dance is easy if you use your phone as a stopwatch and then record the code
