Hmm Z engine rev fluctuation

Zedrush

Recommended Posts

After having the nismo exhaust, high flow cats and plenum spacer installed, I noticed that my rev metre when in parked, idles funny, I sat for 5 mins watching it as it fluctuated between 1000 rev then drop to 500 (when I thought it was going to turn itself off) then back up to just under a 1000 revs again constantly. Is this normal after such mods or is this telling me something?

My brother just took his car to Nissan and they said there was some air escaping from where the plenum had been inserted and that it will need to be rethreaded as the screws wont go back in.

On mine I opened the bonnet turned on but cant hear any whistling noise of air coming out from the engine bey, just hear the note of the engine dropping below the rev then going back up again :surrender:

Glad to hear u found fault.. Did u notice any positive changes when the plenum was installed? How much was the part and installation? (by the way shud we avoid the garage who fitted yours?? )

Lol definatly avoid the garage that fitted mine, I got a specialist in 350z and Jap cars doing all my car care tuff now including services and remap and rolling road, costs a bit more but at least I have peace of mind and thats worth paying for

Plenum spacer does improve performance slightly speak to Adam@z1 auto.com for full info

Just out of interest - what revs is it supposed to idle at? Most cars I've had are just over 1000rpm but coincidentally on Friday I noticed mine was nearly as low as 500 although it didn't seem like it would cut out.

Thats fine Nixy, if you have the air/con on it will rev a little higher (700) rpm.

Here you go Nixy. ;)
