recommended double din for around £250

Hi all

 

Looking to buy a double din head unit to replace the Bose one. Just wondering if there is one in particular people recommend for about £250. I have a rear view camera that needs wiring in and I would like to maintain use of steering wheel controls and Bose sound system, what head unit makes this possible the easiest way? I've read they're tricky to fit and am not particularly confident in fitting it.

JVC are quite popular as they have built in amplification adjustment (if I remember correctly some don't, and end up being really quiet!) I've had one fitted for over 2 years and its been great. A quick look online shows you can get a KW-AV71BT for about that price, but remember to factor in another c£60 for cables and facias etc

Keeping the steering wheel controls is all about the wiring connector unit/loom you get I believe. Have a read here;

I'd recommend a Pioneer DVD/CD double din head unit. Plenty available for that budget depending on what other features you'd like.

I have the AVH-1400DVD which is great but an older model now. Believe the more recent version is the AVH-X2600BT.

Yes I have the AVH-2400BT and I'm very pleased with it. Got mine off ebay second hand for £160! Has all the bells and whistles minus Sat Nav.

No you will need to buy a separate connector as I listed in my post above to make the steering wheel controls work with the new head unit.

Just fitted the x2600bt. It's the basics model, but a great bit of kit. The equaliser greatly improves the sound quality compared to the Bose.

 

I basically set a budget and looked at YouTube reviews. Good luck
