Never go cheap

Made the mistake this week of buying a cheap new head unit, it was a all singing all dancing Chinese piece of crap, I had one a few years ago in my Evo 7 and it was good for the money so took the plunge again on this one,

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/291152832577?nav=WATCHING_ENDED

Payed for it and ordered a new ISO adaptor it came in a couple of days went to fit it and it was to wide for the OEM facia, so went on line again and orders this

http://m.ebay.co.uk/orderDetails?itemId=351068165121&txnId=564982387022

So again went to rip my dash out to fit it and low and behold it still doesn't fit so after a angry email to them I will be getting a refund due to it not being a able to fit a double din hole, my question is ve now seen this

Will this fit the facia ve bought correctly with out me cutting it?

Can't confirm your fascia but that headunit fits with the correct fascia. Have a look at http://incartec.co.uk/Manufacturer/Model/Brand/Device/Radio/Browser.aspx

Also, before you take the plunge on that unit my only regret about it is I wish I had spent a few extra quid and got something with built in nav.

Good luck bud.

Well, I got this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171030204354?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT - cheaper than chips and does pretty much all I need and way way better than the shitty Bose thing. Have a look around this dealer he has some good stuff. I can't be assed to show you pix but it looks ok too. :)

How did you get on with fitting, did you need a different facia and did it fit flush to the dash

Fitting was OK - bit of a spiders web of wires as I hard wired an HUD and multi-monitor at the same time and used block connectors as well as the Bose/ISO interface, took a while to stuff it all in there out of the way  . The flange needed filing to fit but looks OK. :)

That's what am thinking now should of just payed abit more and had no hassle

I bought my Pioneer DVD/CD head unit from a local audio specialist.

Went in his showroom and was looking at all the head units, the owner came over and I told him I was on a budget. I couldn't really afford the head units he was showing me at the moment and that's when he said I could buy an ex-demo model from him.

It was like brand new without a mark on it. Got it for £200 + £25 to fit it. I looked the head unit up online when I got home and they where still selling for over £300 new.

It's worth checking at local audio specialist imo to see if they have any ex-demo units they're willing to sell.

I'm in the same boat mate, the rectangle facia that came with my Hong Kong HU won't fit in a million years, the HU itself is great tho it's got everything. I'm thinking of just cutting the top of the facia off and dealing with a small gap around the top.

Worst part is, about a month later I got a import invoice to pay around £80 I think it was! Never knew about this but there was a small print at the bottom of the ad. I've ignored the first letter for now, if they send out another reminder I guess I'll have to pay up :/ but you're right, it doesn't pay to go via the cheap route
