How do I tell if it's a geometry or balancing issue?

Hi all,

Got a problem that's been nagging me for a bit and want to get it sorted.

Car is fine up to around 70mph, once I go beyond that there's a feeling of something rumbling on the driver's side, not a rattle but something tyre-related, which goes like this...

RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...(STOPS)...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...(STOPS)...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...RUMBLE...(STOPS)

It's not a stone in the tyre and the car feels planted as it should to the road.

Now I got the geometry checked out last year and put back within limits (as I'd upgraded to 19's), but they didn't balance the wheels as they didn't believe they needed balancing, how you can tell this without actually testing them I have no idea.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Thanks :)

Could be either.

Why on earth the wheels weren't balanced is beyond me. They should ALWAYS be balanced if you're changing tyres, which I'm assuming you did if you went to larger wheels.
