Flex Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Do many people bother mapping their second car for economy/performance? Just wondered, Golf is getting around 40mpg and wondered what it might get if remapped? It's a 1.4 petrol btw. Also anyone bothered with an LPG conversion and had any issues? GIXXERUK Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 my 2nd car is a clio dci, remapped from 80bhp to 110bhp, better performance, smoother throttle and slightly more mpg, I would advise anyone to remap a diesel as the gains by far out weigh the cost 1 Quote
Grundy Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Which engine is in the golf? Different years/models etc - Map better than others. Edited March 18, 2014 by grundy225 Quote
Ekona Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 NA petrol is unlikely to see any worthwhile gains. LPG conversions are great if you're not the person paying for the original install, else it takes years to get your money back. Quote
Grundy Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hmmm, in all honesty, I wouldn't bother with either. If it was the 1.9 TDI then I'd say map it, but don't think you will get much benefit from it buddy. 1 Quote

Paddy78 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 A good and reputable LPG conversion would be about £3k... That's a lot of petrol... At 40mpg and £1.35 per litre that's nearly 20,000 miles of petrol. Quote

Grundy Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 One of the other things about LPG is the price influx. Say you paid 3k - and you have to get to 20k miles to break even. What if at 10k thousands of people convert, the price in LPG will sore up. Quote
