Headlight Split/Reseal

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I'm aware P15ULT used to do this, and Husky originally...

I've had a set done (with clear strip and internals painted) and are letting in moisture now.

Is there anyone reputable on here who can split/reseal headlights?

Cheers,

Cal

I have heard of people heating the existing seal without opening them. If there's a small gap that might be enough to close it and solve the problem

Who did them originally for you?

Husky ages ago, but some paint vapour started to appear, I left it for ages and got a local guy to do them... Although they looked great, they leaked terribly... Had another guy have another go, and now they just mist up. Not ideal.

No existing factory seal anymore mate.

May have to just bite the bullet and get facelifts.

Sorry not the factory seal just what ever sealant has been used. If it goes soft enough when hot it could close the gap

Not guaranteed to work but might be worth a try

Sorry to hear they didn't last :( What do you mean by paint vapour? Unfortunately I'm not set up to do anything about them any more but I'm curious to know what went wrong. I take it they didn't leak after I worked on them?

I noticed when I re-lacquered my bonnet, that vapours will develop. And will continue to do so for days, that's why I guess you're not to polish or wax fresh lacquer for a month so it can have a chance to gas off.
