Please don't flame me as this is just a thought but has anyone tried using a cheapo air filter on the end of their standard pipe? Was considering getting one of these cone or mushroom filters to replace the existing box and panel filter...

What Aliveboy said. Of course they will filter crap out to a degree but from other posts I've read on here, you're better off with a panel filter in regards to power and keeping crap out.

....Or just stump up the cash for a decent intake kit if that's what you're after. Plenty available from CS and Tarmac. :thumbs:

I've known cheap filters to start to break down, which results in your car ingesting the material it's made from. Not a good scenario.
