88sam88 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Hi, Noticed my gear oil was leaking just now and I'm going to pop over to halfords (for time being) to get some http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=222101&categoryId=255220&langId=-1 Anyone know if this is ok to use in 350z's? Any answers greatly appreciated and will help me make my decision now 😄 Thank you! Quote
glrnet Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I understood that you should only use Nissan Gear Oil, PM Clark Motorsport. Where's it leaking from? First time I've heard of a tranny leak on here in 3.5 years. Sent from my Zed using Nangkang tyres front, RE040's rear Quote
Vik54 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 and unless you are a well kitted out mechanic you will not have the correct tools or experience to do the job - it requires a specific tool for the plug which is extremely difficult to get at.... Quote
Tigerzed Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I've just had my gearbox oil changed with genuine Nissan oil and added molyslip. Made a massive difference in my opinion. I'd recommend going down that route. Clark motorsport can also supply the moly Quote

Only need a 10mm hex socket, very simple job to do on the driveway. Best to use genuine Nissan fluid, however I'd be inclined to find the source of the leak first before driving it any more. Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 As others have mentioned the best oil is the genuine Nissan gear oil http://www.clarkmotorsport.co.uk/parts/MT-XY-75W/85-Gear-Oil/1-Litre/KE916-99931+1L If you have a leak though the source needs to be found first. Quote
88sam88 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Yea I think the hex bolt threading came loose or something upon examining. I'll get the nissan gear oil but does anyone know if the grade 75-w90 will do for time being (as I have to use the car tmo) ? Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 It will be better than not enough oil just get it changed for the correct stuff as soon as you can Quote
