Zed devil Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hey all, I recently did a thread about my exhaust rattling between 1000-2000rpm. After checking all bolts, heat shields and if anything is touching (up to the end of the HFC cats), I'm not 100% if it is the exhaust. Therefore I have started a new thread but provided more info. Noise: VERY loud metal - metal rattling/vibration Location: front end of car/engine bay When: between 1000-1750 rpm Gears: all forward gears Stationary: doesn't happen with clutch in or out Mods: Y pipe without flexi, lightweight flywheel clutch, berks HFC's. I've checked the exhaust system and can't see anything touching or loose (up to end of cats) I have read similar threads but most seem to be exhaust related. Numerous people have mentioned the y pipe without flexi's but many people have these and don't experience the same problem. Hopefully this has given a better idea of the situation and may have been experienced by others. Thanks in advance Quote
Neilp Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 That's the lightened flywheel causing that. It's normal for a lightweight flywheels to do this. It's like a metal chatter Quote

It sounds absolutely terrible and can be heard from miles away :embarrassing: It's not quiet at all lol Quote
Zed devil Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Why the hell would anyone fit them if it makes that racket? :puzzled: Quote
Neilp Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 As most people who fit them generally drive spirited and revs are generally above 2000rpm the benefits out way the negatives Quote
peteman35 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 My light fly is only very loud when cold. pretty quiet when its warm Just get a louder exhaust... Quote
Zed devil Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Any way of making it quieter, other than loud exhaust Quote
Keyser Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Try a twin plate clutch on a lightened flywheel then yours will sound like it's purring trust me Quote
