hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Hey Just got alloys from one of the members on here and got them fitted today. They are 9.5 at the back and run with 25mm spacers. I was on the motorway and any big hump the rear end drops and touches the side walls(the tyres are stretched at the back) Thing is there is a fair bit of room from the wheel arch to the tyre so it must be travelling at least 2 - 3" to touch. What would you recommend to stop this ? Quote
BillyZed Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Get your arches rolled mate, costs around £100 Quote
hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Its not the arch thats touching its actually the rear quarter arch, i will put a picture up Quote
aidan Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 sounds like you need new springs.....or a diet?? Quote

hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 You can see the fine black ring round the tyre, its only happened twice as the tyre was just brand new this morning Quote

ZMANALEX Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 If the car body is travelling 2 - 3" at the rear then you have a suspension issue. Alex. 1 Quote
hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 By the looks of the picture it is touching at 2 places. But i think its also touching the quarter panel as well with the line on the tyre wall. Quote

I didnt want to upgrade my suspension because i have to get over spoed bumps at my house and cant go any lower. Do you just get stiffer springs or something ? Quote
Mopedmark Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 All most certainly suspension problem I am running 20inch with 275 and 25mm spacer and mine touch the inner side of the arch a paper thickness only when two up I am going to roll the arches but yours shouldn't touch.Get that suspension checked 1 Quote
Jake4136 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Coilovers will let you keep the same ride hight with stiffer suspension Quote
peteman35 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 The tread looks outside the arch by about 2 inches?! Quote
Mopedmark Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 That's an optical illusion from the way the photo has been taken 1 Quote
hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 The tread looks outside the arch by about 2 inches?! Its just under the arch and no more I think the suspension is just too soft. Need to drive slow which is rubbish Quote

buster Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 or just drop the spacer to 20mm.... 1 Quote
hensh65 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Rubbish photo just took it on the way out of my mates house but just to show there is quite a lot of clearance when you look at where the tyre is actually being touched Quote
aidan Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 whip the wheel off - have a look in the arch - and see where its touching. If inner lip, roll them (or if just touching) you can CAREFULLY grind a little bit off. Did I mention CAREFULLY. Mind and touch up the paint as it will rust. Quote
buster Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 m8 just remove the spacers and swop for 20mm.....I use to run 28mm spacer with 10.5j wheel 35mm off = 7mm and 265/35/19 stretched tyre.since going to 295/35/19 I ve had to drop to a 15mm spacer and that's with arches rolled. Quote
