14N Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I want to tax a vehicle from 1st October. The vehicle is currently SORN and I do not have the reminder to do it online. When can I tax the vehicle at a Post Office so the date BEGINS from the 01/10? Is there a point I can tax it before this date, or will I have to wait until the 1st (and join a no doubt huge lunchtime queue where everyone else is doing the same)? Cheers, Ian Quote
Commander Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Looks like you can do it by post, up to 2 months in advance; https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-tax-disc-in-advance Quote
370Ad Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 If you have the V5C number you can still do it online Quote
14N Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Chances are, if doing it by post that I won't get the tax disc back until aftert the 1st anyway. Only just bought the car Ad (last week), so registered keeper details would still be the former keeper. Quote
Ekona Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 No, you cannot forward date the tax. You'll have to queue up with the plebs on the 1st with the new keeper supplement I'm afraid. At least, AFAIK. Quote
14N Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Ekona - "14N is a pleb" Cheers mate 2 Quote
Chris AME Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I have forward dated the tax on my car before, I just asked them to start it from the first of the next month. They should take the V5c from you at the same time and send it to dvla for change of ownership too Quote
