mbw100 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 In my ultra oil level paranoia I've over filled the car by 10-12mm. Is this going to cause the car major grief? Oil pressure gauge maxes out on start. Once hot idles at a tad over by 30psi. But when accelerating hard to over 3000rpm maxes out again. Thinking I should probably get some drained! Thoughts? Quote
Neilp Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Easy to drain a little from the sump. Better safe than sorry imo Quote
HmmBen Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Yeah just drain it via the sump plug. How much did you put in?? Quote
Ekona Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 10mm on the stick is a lot, like around half a litre-ish. Definitely drain it, and don't drive it hard until you do (pootling around under 3k rpm should be fine). Quote

gillywig2 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 After reading about the damage it could do on tinternet, I had to drain approx. 1l of oil from my Dad's Focus last weekend. . He had topped up with a full 2l can! . Quote
HmmBen Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Exactly Ekona. Usually min-max is 1 litre. So 10mm or so of that is at least half a litre. Definately dont drive it hard. Quote
