I've owned my zed a month today....

...and what an emotional roller coaster it's been! (Still is) Sadly, I'm yet to fully enjoy it :( When we first picked it up we couldn't stop smiling, it's by far the best car we've ever owned (me and the wifey). I never really gave it the full beans as its the first rear wheel drive car Ive owned so I actually took it pretty steady the first couple of days (plus the wifes up before me so she kept robbing it for work!).

When we got it home the stereo wouldn't stop making a whirling noise which wouldn't stop even when they keys were out (first annoying thing) No big deal though, I took it out as I wanted my own in anyway. Then the engine began to cut out. So I joined this website for advice. Turns out it was a dirty throttle body, which is pretty minor (second annoying thing). Then The passenger window started to jam which I found was actually quite a common problem with the motors getting dirty, again no biggie but annoying. And then I noticed I had a slow puncture when washing.... not going well so far. All minor things that add up to give me one big headache!

I was finally beginning to enjoy the car and really looking forward to modding it and making it my own when the engine started making a concerning noise... just my luck. So I took it to zedfest and met a few of the guys, really helpful and friendly people. They all had a listen and offered their advice. I got in touch with a few guys on here and found CS to be the nearest specialist to me who have been really helpful, it's currently booked in with them so fingers crossed it's nothing major :(

So bottom line, I can't wait for it to be sorted and then I can start spending money on it in a good way :D

Actually mate I've just had a txt from my trusty postie that its in the post this morning :D

Thats something I should have mentioned above-my air con button was missing (I thought it would be a quick ebay job...) and Lincolnbaggie had a spare gear surround with buttons, so he very kindly sent me the air con button for free. Top bloke, not bad for an albion fan ;) thanks again! :D

Just a little unlucky bud, these cars will start to show their age with these little niggles. Just get them sorted and try and enjoy the car! Hope the engine is all ok.

Understand its sometimes hard to enjoy it as you want it perfect all the time!!!

  • 4 weeks later...

OK guys, here's the update: (**big sigh**)

Firstly, a massive thanks to CS for taking the time to look at it today - really appreciated it, fantastic people and some excellent advice.

The problem could be cams which seems to be due to engine wear beyond the mileage. I've not got a very mechanical brain so my description is rather poor! Very expensive basically!

I was advised to get in touch with the garage I purchased it from and explain what has happened. I contacted them today and they are going to look at it themselves on Thursday.

What I want to know is where I stand legally. I've barely driven the car in the time I've owned it. I do have a warranty but it is parts only. So bearing in mind this kind of wear and tear doesn't happen overnight, and admitting I missed it when purchasing, should I be paying for a repair of this kind? That is if a repair is feasible? I'm guessing labour costs for a repair like this can be astronomical.

Cheers guys.

I think you have already made your points clear and you need to wait and see what they offer to do  Belated :welcome: as well! Hopefully they sort this out asap - it won't hurt to mention that you are a member of the Owners' club and that an independent specialist has looked at the car.

Thanks mate :)

I've mentioned both and CS are more than happy for me to pass their number on which is really good of them.
