Spill Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 it depends on the ECU's decision: with the UTEC you are in control yeah, yeah, yeah guy's I'm already sold on the UTEC I'm just thinking of before the great day arrives raising rev limit
Removed Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 lmao I'm sure it's the way you drive the car: ie if you always drive it normally, the ECU is in normal mode, if you then drive it aggressively, the ECU gradually switches into aggressive mode. Don't think it's a quick thing
Guest prescience Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Oh and the UTEC can also control max speed limit - although it is uncertain whether this is available now or will be via a software upgrade. The max theoretical speed of the Z with its gearing in 6th is 186mph at normal redline - rising proportionately with rev limit increase. Not that I would recommend anyone drives at anywhere near those speeds on the road or probably on the track for that matter since the car is not designed for that. And before anyone pipes in and points it out, even at 400 BHp (roughly like mine) and assuming the Z can achieve 160mph stock, that 'only' equates to 180mph
Removed Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 we have another member who wants to buy the unit but not install it as of yet. Not sure if this leaves only 1 space or still 2 left, will check with Jermaine...
StephenG Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Well, with a week to go until my tuning day, it's possible that final space (or 2) will be available after I get the tune. So on the 24th I can give you a yay or nay. But don't hold the space for me (which you won't)
Removed Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 np mate, we are not in a rush, of course first comes first served i understand that nearly £700 is a biggish investment, so we are patient Also, we *might* have another interested party, not confirmd yet though.
Guest prescience Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 That's right mate - we can't do that 4 you; we are down to 1 slot now. Ive made my choice as to future expandability (that isnt a word btw!) and pains me 2 say, its a easy option - the SS box can do the biz if it can be tuned. And tbh tuned does not == establishing comms. Stephen, i love this vortech kit and all i want to make it do is sing
StephenG Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Stephen, i love this vortech kit and all i want to make it do is sing Ditto. Choir practice for mine starts Thursday.

Removed Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 and Scoobynet I have a guy who's interested from Scoobynet. Hopefully we finally reached the magic number 5 Game on
Removed Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 some nice gains with a Vortech setup + UTEC.... http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177312
StephenG Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Aren't they. Key things there though: 1. The engine is revving to 7000 rpm and the peak is at 6800rpm. I'm assuming this is a function the UTEC gives you to override the stock rev limit. At 6000 rpm power is at 425 bhp-ish, which is more realistic (but still great!) 2. I believe a 2.8x pulley is being used. In this instance, you'd expect to see boost around these levels. Still - good to see great figures.
Removed Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 did you manage to tune your car with the splitsec or not then????
StephenG Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yes, and the results are good, but not as good as I hoped. I'm wondering where the limitations are - in the box, the tuning, or the whole kit overall. Torque is up and the curve is better, but it levels off too much in the *very* high rev range (6Krpm+ ) which is a shame because it's not really as dyno-boasty as it was but the overall 0-60 and quarter mile is a lot better.
Removed Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 some more great gains from... Australia! http://www.350z-tech.com/forums/index.p ... =14826&hl= guy had only an aftermarket exaust fitted.... Also worth noting the importance of tuning, wrt the stuttering mentioned COME ON GUYS LAST CAR NEEDED FOR THIS!
Removed Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 still noone else interested??? Lomoto, surely you should be interested, seen your CAI+Exhaust mods?

Removed Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 well I tell you what, after a discussion amongst us, I sent Giles an email offering to extend this to everyone of the other site (not just members, that's the only condition ) yesterday. Haven't had an answer yet, but hope that love for the 350Z community and common sense prevail
Removed Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 as a follow up on this, after over a week of having sent the email to the OC Chairman, I received no answer, whatsoever. Not only this is rude, but indeed it shows that the Good of the WHOLE of the UK Z Community isn't after all on the OC's agenda... will post my mail publicly very soon too We just need the last car to kick this off btw.....
Removed Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 still no answer from the "chairman" will post what I wrote to him when i get home at the end of the week. Anyway, just a bump to try and find this last car !!!!!!!
