Factory fitted mods ?

Hi my insurance isn't due for a few months yet but i was wondering if you have to declare mods that were fitted at the factory when the car was purchased ? Looking through my paperwork the first owner had the nismo options such as LMGT4 19" , Exhaust , carbon b pillars and gear knob.

When i renew i will be declaring these just because of the cost of replacing them but was wondering if they are still classed as modifications?

You need to tell your insurer the answer to whatever they ask. Some want you to tell them about every single thing that doesn't come on a bone stock car (so the GT pack or Rays would could), some don't give a fig. The Admiral group insist you tell them about every thing, the specialists usually don't care. As always, check the policy wording and if in doubt just tell them anyway. Don't just purchase via Comparethemoneysupermeerkat, speak to a real person and get it in writing. No point in paying for the privilege of not being insured.

With your list, I'd definitely declare the lot regardless.

I believe there's recently new legislation that you only have to answer the questions asked and i dont think you have to volunteer information. I got a piece of literature with my new doc's highlighting this. But dont take my word for it!!

And declaring mods doesnt mean that they are actually covered!

Admiral want an extra £25 to cover mods up to 10% of value of car or £500 whichever is less.

Speak to a specialist like Prestige if you want a policy to cover your mods.

You will pay more but as has been said before,no point having insurance if you arent covered.

thanks guys as I've said i will be declaring these but it begs the question when buying a new car ( never done this ) with all the options available at purchase. Do you declare " sat nav Air con etc" ? Must be many new buyers out there that don't do this .

When i had my 03 scoob i didn't have to declare because it came up on insurers records with the Prodrive Performance Pack as it was taken out as an option with the original buyer. Even the 18" PPF alloys were logged as originals so was wondering if it should be the same here.

We had to declare the PPP on our Scooby as it wasn't on the insurer records. Tbh I'd have told them anyway.

I declared every last option on the 911 when I was with Admiral for a year. 2 pages worth of bits!

I'll have to get in touch with my old specialist scooby insurer to see if they will give me a good deal on the Z . Might have to ask them at the same time if they can do discounts for the 350z uk forum.
