Manual boot release on '53?

Just a quick one,

 

Is there a manual boot release for the '53 plate coupé?

 

I have removed and thrown out my old battery as the car is off the road for a bit pending service MoT ect.

 

I deliberately left the boot open but accidentally let It drop the other day and now it's stuck on the latch.

 

Any ideas?

Its under the strut brace, you have to pull a little tab out, not too difficult to find

Ive had a look for it on mine and cant find it. I think its an urban legend lol

its in a small recess. Don't look for it, feel for it. closer to the passenger side if I recall correctly. I think it might even have a small tab of Velcro to keep it up?

The manual states.. The release string handle is located under the strut tower bar inside the luggage compartment. firmly pull to left.

I thought that was only on the later models?

Mine is a 2006 pre-facelift UK Spec. Sure it must be on the earlier ones as well.

My boot struts are knackerd so il end up even sorer lol. I might need to recruit a midget to climb in there while i hold the boot open lol
