Hi Scott ~ finally got my new alloys from the Cougar Store. :yahoo: Mitz does a great service as you know and I'm very pleased with how the alloys look.

Your car was my inspiration for getting them rather than just getting new tyres & my old Rays refurbed so it's all your fault, ...that I'm loving the way my Zed looks more than ever now. Cheers. :D

So there has been a few niggling bits regarding the HU and centre console that I decided to sort this weekend. So with a few mates over we got to work.

In no time atall we had the centre console out

17322628-692D-4880-AAAF-6EA295E57FD8-1189-0000007109AEB9BB_zps1977e674.jpg

So the first fix was to sort the low volume issues. Busters RCA mod worked a treat

And Jak working his magic with his soldering iron

Once this was all confirmed to be working as brilliantly as we hoped, moved on to the other niggle. The wrap. There was a few places that were suffering adhesion issues so opted for paint. Went over to Halfrauds to get some gunmetal grey made up, got home excited to get some colour on the primered plastics, only to find the nozzle was unsprayable. It was literally impossible to spray without it spluttering. So back down to halfords for an exchange to another nice looking grey.

All painted and very happy with the new colour, apart from the cubby. For prep work from a previous coat of paint meant this has came out a bit 'funny' Only myself to blame, but we pressed on for now.

So back in it all went. Thanks to Jak and Steve for their help over this weekend!

To diffuse the dodgey paint on the cubby I quickly made up a 'Rising Sun' sticker, actually like it more than I thought I would. All In all a happy bunny, and love my HU even more now!

Thats all for now :)

Wanted to ask you Scott if you get 5 mins one day could you take a picture from low down directly behind your Zed?.

Just very interested to see the rear stance on it with the wider rear tyre set up. Thanks.

A quick one on my drive for you mate, it is sitting a bit higher than usual due to my wonkey drive, but close enough :)

That's great Scott thanks but any chance of doing one like the below picture?

Talking with Mitz @CS now about alloy/tyre combos thanks to you.:lol:;)

Right little update, tried my hand at a bit of Carbon Skinning over the last few days. It took a little longer than expected and I learnt a lot from it. Overall though im happy with the results :)

So I thought id try my B pillars, as the carbon wrap was put to shame against the real carbon fiber mirror covers.

Step one was to get the wrap off and rub them down.

95A21C9D-D286-47BC-B4D6-9F34DF13F508-1913-00000122DABC11E0_zps534f91b5.jpg

Then to apply the basecoat in which the carbon will adhere to

D173877C-6F8A-4039-BA24-F0CD18999C42-1913-00000122E1DCBF9B_zps499da4d0.jpg

Then I layed the carbon over once the basecoat was tacky

D06ACF95-D1B3-4FB5-973B-CCFEE70E1524-1913-00000122EA1DAD29_zps7e808505.jpg

Both pieces wrapped and awaiting their resin.

After a few layers of resin, it was time to rub them down. After getting to work with the sandpaper it appeared I had rubbed it down way too much, and it was at the point where I was just left with a matt grey finish, no weave or anything. Panicking that I had rubbed into the carbon, I reapplied some more resin, which bought it back to normal. So i was on the right tracks after all!

So once this had dried again, I rubbed it down again. Here you can see how it goes:

DBB08FDE-36DE-4EEE-8AAF-2660223CE193-1913-0000012303AD31CF_zps39a93dd4.jpg

Yet apply a bit of lacquer/resin or even just water, and the weave returns..

AB79D0B2-DF50-4E7F-A1EA-5FABD9F5B8BF-1913-000001230895E6C1_zps8e1de746.jpg

Now admittedly at this stage through fear I did cut the rubbing down a bit short, but after some laquering I simply wasnt happy with the finish, so i went back and rubbed it down thoroughly and properly, working through the grits.

Then with a can of lacquer and some coats later we have this

And fitted

DSC_0049_zpsacdb3196.jpg

Only real problem i have is if you look closely parts it appears to have small holes in the resin, im 99% sure this is where the weave has separated slightly, allowing it to fall through a bit. A way to overcome this would be to order the 'Pro Finish' kit. Which comes with a thin layer of resin already in the weave, which helps hold it together in the application (as it does separate very easily)

Apart from that im quite chuffed with the results :) Now im not sure whether to add a small nismo sticker to each one?

Does look very good Scott. :kicking:

Forget the Nismo stickers though imo unless it was just a joke of course. Although if you do decide to sell them one day then add Nismo stickers to double your price.

Thanks mate :)

Dont worry the Nismo stickers will be staying away. Point well raised about the resale value though, couldn't be more true

aha cheers, gradually my efforts are turning towards the engine bay now. Me and a few mates are going on a rolling road day on sunday (so keep an eye out for the video ;) ) But I dare say this will encourage my efforts further haha

Shame my hoses didnt turn up slightly earlier and I would of asked Sly to fit them whilst he was on the car, always the way though!

I wish I could start on the "pretty" bits but for now I'm trying, I say trying, to stay performance related.

Once I'm truly happy with the performance then I'll start tarting up the bay and styling the outside. Although saying that I did just get my interior door pulls & passenger grab handle Hydro dipped in gold carbon fibre weave. B) But that was reasonably cheap to do (£70 all in) and I hate how scratched up my drivers door pull/switch panel is.

Just got to fit them now but waiting till the end of the month as my cars going to the painters week after next to have a little rust problem sorted.

Sounds good mate, and that does sound very reasonably priced indeed! gonna look really smart!

Had a rolling road day on sunday, more motivated for the performance side of things even more now aha!

I rolled:

275.6 hp@5927rpm

263.6 ib.ft@4564rpm

Which i thought was quit good considering its 10 years old and basically standard :) good starting place for more power i think ;)

Video I made of the group of us that went: (I'm at 3 minutes 54)
