Chris AME Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I have been looking into lightweight pulleys and was wondering if they make a real difference or if it was more of a placebo effect? Quote
Dblock Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I have been looking into lightweight pulleys and was wondering if they make a real difference or if it was more of a placebo effect? 100% make a difference IMO. Get some AMS ones as they have the little collar so your main seal will never leak. They are also feather light compared to stock. I also did a idler pulley delete. Quote
Chris AME Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Cheers buddy il probably end up getting some over Christmas as my belts are ready to replace anyway, I have read good things about the ams ones Quote
dave1221 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 if you do Chris, let me know what you think of them. I might ask you to fit a set next time I bring my Zed to you for servicing  Quote
Chris AME Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Will do Dave, we shall have to get a meet sorted early next year when the weather fairs up Quote
Dblock Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 It will be eaiser if you have a manual as you can use the engine to break the pulley nut. I just used an impact wrench. Also I needed a 3 armed puller to get the crank pulley off. I needed an impact gun for the alternator also. here is that mod I did at the same time http://my350z.com/forum/engine-drivetrain-and-forced-induction-diy/320669-idler-pulley-removal-mod-with-pics.html Quote
R-Face Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Did you have to take the radiator off to get to the crank pulley or did you manage with everything in situ?# Quote
RobPhoboS Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Just a quick question - any idea of fitting time for pulleys ? These ones right ? http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/350z-ams-pulley-set.aspx Edited April 29, 2013 by RobPhoboS Quote
Mikesding Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Any disadvantage? Why aren't these fitted as stock? Quote

Dblock Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Mine is an auto so I had remove the radiator to get the impact gun and puller in there but most people who have manuals use the cheat bar method. They stick a massive bar on the pulley and on the floor and then crank te engine but not start it. It should crack the bolt and you can get t off. Acess is better without the radiator though. Quote
