This auction is for an ODB-II interface compatible with the 350z.

What exactly can you do with this ISO-Protocol Interface and the Software?

 

In general, this interface, together with a computer and software making a powerful and flexible scanning tool at home. With ScanTool.net or software like this, the interface can work with all vehicles (without CAN-Bus) regardless of their makes as long as they are newer than model year 1996 in the USA. In European since 2001, diesel cars later. As a typical example, it lets you perform the following operations:

· Read diagnostic trouble codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and display their meaning (over 3000 generic code definitions in the database).

· Clear trouble codes and turn off the MIL ("Check Engine" light)

· Display current sensor data, including:

 

o Engine RPM

o Calculated Load Value

o Coolant Temperature

o Fuel System Status

o Vehicle Speed

o Short Term Fuel Trim

o Long Term Fuel Trim

o Intake Manifold Pressure

o Timing Advance

o Intake Air Temperature

o Air Flow Rate

o Absolute Throttle Position

o Oxygen sensor voltages/associated short term fuel trims

o Fuel System status

o Fuel Pressure

o And many others...

 

What are PC requirements?

 

You must have Microsoft Windows 98/ME/2000/XP with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later installed on your computer.

 

Minimum PC hardware requirement:

· Pentium 200MHz or faster

· 64MB of RAM or more

· CD-ROM or DVD-ROM Driver

· USB Port

 

What European vehicles?

 

For European emission related standards, EOBD starting in year 2001 is the equivalent of OBD2 in the USA.

Rob,

 

Have you used this successfully with the Z - only the Z has a CAN-BUS system.

 

Also, I am not sure what CAN protocol the car runs but I do recall that someone had tried one of these type of readers with different standard protocols on the Z without being able to read any parameters successfully. I'll try and find that info. but the guy who was trying it seemed to know his stuff.

 

Not trying to p*ss on your chips - I'm sure you've used it successfully :teeth:

Yes I have used this on my 350z. I can get some pictures & video if you want.

 

I think you are getting mixed up in terminology. The CAN-BUS is the type of network the cars use, ISO is the specific protocol that the 350z and many other cars use.

No, I (think I) understand it but didn't explain it - I believe there are different protocols used by different manufacturers on OBD-II, not just one?

 

Anyway, it sounds like it's all good - hope you didn't mind me asking :D
