Trust me, its the EVT Control...

Just don't ask how I know...

Ooooo, tell, tell, you must, you must!! :):snack:

Over £7k worth of unneccesary parts fitted under warranty over a 2-year period, before finally getting an ECU patch loaded by my local HPC which cured it!

Its quite a well known issue in the US, where there is an official Nissan patch for the ECU.

I'm in Rochester Kent. Our labour is £55/hour , but diagnostic is free with no obligation. Give me a call if you like to come down. 07852291335. Regards Sly.

Jesus I need to put my rates up ... How do you southeners get away with it lol

I've heard some Nissan specialists are about £70 an hour. The jag dealership near me is £110 an hour for labour. Most bmw garages seem to have extortionate rates, the one in Chelmsford from memory was like £150 an hour

Sly's rates are very good for the area, should have seen the quote I got from the Nissan dealership :surrender: Sly's was around 1/3rd of the cost in the end, very knowledgeable guy. Plus the road up to his garage is worth the trip ;)

And going through the Nissan servicing I got with my '07 plate they did indeed use the wrong oil at least once & the wrong service schedule.

Alarm bells should have rung when I called up to ask for a quote and they asked the engine size

Hope you get your problem sorted (Back on topic :p )

Sadly, the knowledge and abilities you get with service techs in dealerships, largely comes down to which techs are working that day and in some cases, what rates the dealership pays it's techs. Smaller dealerships are more likely to pay better rates and attract more talented techs, the larger dealerships tend to deal with more 'chaff' like Micras and Notes, so they just hire any old 'fitter' to work in their tech dept. I used to work for a medium sized dealership many years ago and learned this the hard way. Most of the techs are ex-Kwik-Fitters or people who can't get a decent tuning shop/local garage to hire them, so they slip in through the wonders of centralised HR that many dealerships use.

Best bet, or at least so I've always found, is to find a tuner, or local mechanic by word of mouth, then stick with them. I have a local mechanic who's been working on my families cars for decades now, races his own MG Midget in his spare time, which is the fastest MG Midget you've ever seen! I also have a friend who's a Z enthusiast and runs his own garage, he knows the Z32 backwards, as he rebuilt his own from the ground up and has done tonnes of work on other Z32 owners cars as well. Then to top it off, I was once a mechanic, not an awesome one I grant you, but a mechanic, so I know my way around a spanner and can do many things myself.
