Wanted - Hard wearing tyres for the Zed!!!

Anyone have any recommendations for some *very* hardwearing tyres?

I seem to be eating through them at an astonishing rate! :scare:

Ok, my driving style is *slightly* to blame but I enjoy it..... but my tyre wear is nothing like as good as that reported by some on here. Do you drive like girls?

hard wearing tyres = hard compound, low rolling resistance, high fuel economy performance , LOW grip performance...

if you want hard wearing, i guess things like

Continental Eco-Contact, or Michelin Energy?

but the though of compromising grip over mileage of tyres...does not bode well with me...

do you find the bridgestones wearing quickly?!?! :scare:

You know you can leave the ESP on ... wheel spin is not a requirement of normal driving... :p[/img]

As I think I have said on this forum before, I *really* like the Bridgestones, especially in the wet (go on, flame me now!) because I find them quite predictable, you always know you will have no grip! :bleh: and I would rather have a tyre that lets go at a much lower limit and catch the slide than get to twice the speed and be in the ditch..... Like I said, its my driving style that does it, I just need something with great wear resistance. I have no problems generating tyre temperature  , used the 'stones through the winter and still love em.

Erm...Yes....just a bit!

Whats ESP? :hypocrite:

if you find the re040 quick wearing..... you are gonna struggle finding a replacement imo.

I still have the original set (admittedly the rears will be changed next autumn, 4mm left on the fronts) although I do have a nother set of wheels/tyres for the summer, still definitely iro 20k miles on the re040

Thanks for the feedback, guess I will just have to start driving like my gran because I am eating the 'stones at an alarming rate. Especially when Val is managing 20K and I recall someone else on here saying they got 27K from a set...... :headhurt:

Yeah, that was me  but I do use the car mostly for the daily commute and if I'm getting the back end out on the M57 I've got more to worry about than tyre wear! :scare:

ask some tyre specialist...

but what about; Michelin Primacy HP

"Michelin Primacy HP lasts 25% longer on average compared to its principal European competitors "

http://www.michelin.co.uk/uk/front/affi ... 0301144632

or pirelli P6000 energy :

Optimum all round performance

High mileage and even wear

http://www.pirelli.co.uk/web/catalog/ca ... AR-SUV-VAN

... worth asking experts to see what they say about these type of tyres... also you might not get them in your "shoe" size...

I've done just over 12k on the Stones and need new rears fronts still have just over 4mm. I dont know how anyone gets 20+k out of them. My daily drive drive is 10m each way on twisty 'B's and straights 'A.

Phew, its not just me then!

Just wanted to be sure there wasnt an issue with the car....

I'll have a word with a tyre specialist a some have suggested.

My rears seem to be very bare at under 15k miles. I wouldn't say I drive the car that hard.

Fronts don't exactly look great either :(
