Boot lid problem

The boot lid on my Z needs to be pulled up with both hands when opened after the car has been locked for a while. In other words you need one hand on the release button and need to pull the lid with the other hand to get it to open. If you shut it and open again, it opens as it should - i.e. can be done with one hand after you've released it (don't start the innuendos again!) : Anyone got any ideas? It's a pain the neck when you are carrying bags and have to put them down before you can open the boot.

By the way - got a great new gearknob from kta - thanks for recommending on here.

Have you got a big spoiler?

 

Your struts probably need re-gassing

This is a really common problem and there is a guide somewhere... probably the guides forum!

 

Can fixed with 1p coins or rubber washers.

Removing the boot's counterweight worked for me

I used rubber washers to sort out this problem on my Zed..

 

It's been fine ever since ..

I have this problem with the nismo spoiler. Never thought anything of it tho until I read this but I shall be having a go at the fix as it is a little annoying having to press the button and pull at the same time...

Mine does this and I have a nismo spoiler, I have brought 2 new lifters if that's what you call them from Nissan for £3.25 each + vat

8 pence would have been cheaper and quickly solved the problem.

careful with the penny trick as it can cause the metal around the bootlid to tear.
