sunshine Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Flicking through the service history of my zed the other day I've noticed theres no evedence if the clutch ever being replaced. There cars a 54plate with 94,000miles Whats the average life of the clutch expected to be? To be fair mine still bites hard but the pedel does come up quite high. Also the thrust bearing is noisey, but it certainly doesnt feel like its on borrowed time Quote
DoogyRev Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Mine was on 55K when I sold it, still working fine Quote
TEMPERZ Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 It's all down to how it's been driven really, if people sit in traffic with the clutch depressed all the time etc it weakens the pressure plate so it will slip earlier on in it's life ! If it's driven well a clutch can last well over 100k Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Changed mine at 80k it was still useable not slipping but the pedal was getting pretty heavy Quote
SteveW Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I'm at 72k hoping it lasts a good while yet! Quote
TEMPERZ Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 The slave cylinder is more of the weak point to fail Quote

If it's driven well a clutch can last well over 100k The only clutch I've ever had replaced was on warranty in the 70's (less than 2k). When I sold my Escort RS Turbo it had covered 115,000 miles without changing it, I am especially light on my clutch . Pete Quote
