Cheap laptop on eBay?

Hi all,

Been considering purchasing a cheap laptop to use when I'm out and about, and to use for diagnostic purposes.

I have just spotted this on eBay and it seems bloody cheap :scare:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fujitsu-AH530 ... 442wt_1396

They have sold 23 today so far and it's only 11am!

Does anybody else know of any cheap laptops on sale? Maximum I am willing to pay is £300 if it's very good but preferably I would only like to pay around £150-£200 as it won't be used much...

Many Thanks,

Hassan

Do you definately need a laptop or will a netbook do? I bought myself a acer aspire one netbook last Christmas, think it cost me about 200quid new, 2gb ram, 250gb hard drive, dual core processor. I bought it just to mess about on and really didnt think id use it much as I also have a £1800 Sony Viao HD laptop.

Believe it or not, ive used the netbook so much the Sony is gathering dust. Its ace. Battery lasts 10->12 hours, its quick loading up and using. I cant really fault it. I use it for all my business stuff, emails, internet, streaming videos / dvd`s everything. Not only that, its ideal in the car for diagnostics as its so small & portable.

I bought my dad an Ah531 for £350 new so I dont know if this is a great deal? But its got good spec and it is sub £300.

If its older then batteries tend to die slowly but with laptops as fast as this one battery life is never great. You do have 2 x 2.1ghz, 4gb ddr2 and 320gb of spinning metal

Thanks for your help guys! Yes I needed a laptop and not a netbook as it will most of the time be used at home and not be transported anywhere :)

I ended up purchasing this:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavili ... 6-pdt.html

It was £399 when I purchased it (gone up since the Xmas sale). Comes with 750GB a hard drive, 6GB RAM, 2.4 GHz and an i5 processor.

What do you guys think?

Seems like a lot of laptop for the price.

I believe HP are going to stop making PC hardware soon, but that shouldn't really matter.

HP is one of the big boys, but since cheap laptops and tablets its maybe not worth it for them for a small market share and relatvly low profit for them.

HP are moving away from personal hardware and focusing on their professional service side and also enterprise hardware (servers and appliances etc). Its not that their not one of the big boys, its that theres sod all profit in personal PCs these days with so much competition. They can make more money selling servers and their consultants ;)
