TheGrinch Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Is the Bose stereo coded. If the battery is disconnected will it need a code inputting? If I don't have a code (and I don't think I do) what can I do about this. Thanks Quote
Grantmitchell Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 You dont have to enter a code when you disconnect and reconnect the battery but the Bose is coded to the car, so you cant just swap them from one car to another without "divorcing" them first! Quote
TheGrinch Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Really. The fibbers at the dealership told me that I'd be knackered if I disconnected the battery.. So it's a load of cobblers then? Quote
TheGrinch Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 I have no reason to doubt grant on this but I now have conflicting views. I hope the stereo is coded as grant says - and it makes logical sense that it is. Would feel a lot better if others could comment before I take the battery plunge. Thanks for any further advances from people who can comment from experience. Quote
M13KYF Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 the Bose is paired with the ECU with Nissan NATS system. If the unit was to be installed in another car you would have to get the Bose 'divorced', its not just a case of entering a 4 digit number Quote
agentsmith350 Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Slight hyjack - Do you need the code to refit the standard Bose ? As in if i replace it can i put it back in later or do i need the code Quote
Husky Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 If you do need to get hold of the code, phone the original supplying dealer and they will supply it for you FOC. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Slight hyjack - Do you need the code to refit the standard Bose ? Watshot Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 You can disconnect the battery without having to input the code when re-connected. That's all you need confirming isn't it? Quote
M13KYF Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 it is advised that if your are disconnecting the battery, to drop the windows Quote
Neilp Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 This thread actually managed to confuse me reading it Quote
TheGrinch Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Good point on the windows mike. Do all cars do that. I would have thought it would only be the roadster Quote
