As i will be hardly using the Z atall this year as i need to save up i just want to insure it this year basically to sit on the drive so i can utilize the year to gain another year of NCB.... is it possible to get reduced rate insurane if your only going to do like 200 miles in the year? Some sort of "driveway insurance" BTW im 21 y/o so certain companies wont insure me i dont think?

In my experience ive yet to find any insurer who will offer reduced insurance due to low usage. They may claim they do, but in practice their quote is not any different to the majority.

I went through several years of hardly using one of my motorbikes. Id put maybe 100miles a year on it and so went through the same searches to try and find some insurance company who would reflect this exceptionally low risk in their premiums. Without any luck!

A few years back I had "Fire and Theft" only insurance for a bike that was in the garage while I was overseas it was a lot cheaper than "normal" insurance but you CANNOT ride/drive at all on a public road and I think they may have insisted the bike was SORN I did get a years NCB though.

If that helps ? :)

Insurance drops if you limit the milage. No doubt about it in my case.

For less than 5k miles I'm not really sure if it makes any difference though. Maybe a specialist 'collector' policy or something???

Thanks for the replys guys, looks as if ill have to take it on the chin or perhaps buy a shed and insure that, as i cant see any point in wasting a year when i could be building my NCB up.

Any idea what company you got that kind of insurance off Keyser? Would be REALLY helpful!
