SteveW Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Hey hopefully someone knows the answer to this so here goes. Does anyone know the wall thickness of the crashbar? I'm Trying to decide whether I should drill and tap one side and mount my oil Cooler like that or drill right through and then use nuts and long bolts. Cheers Steve Quote

Ian Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Its not very thick. I had my oil cooler mounted to the bottom of the crash bar. Mine is in the garage somewhere, I'll measure it once I get home if no one has got back to you by then Quote

SteveW Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Thanks very much folks. In that case seen as its pretty thin I'll go the whole way through with nuts and bolts. Make sure the cooler is nice and firm that way. Thanks again Steve Quote
Cookbot Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 You'll see when you get the bumper off, but the profile of the beam is the same as how a calculator displays a figure 8. There's another bit of metal in the middle to add stiffness I assume. I only attached to the bottom and used a few washers to spread the load and it's been fine for a few 1000 miles so far. Quote
SteveW Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Hi Mate, I've mounted my cooler to the back of the crashbar. I drilled right through the lower portion of the '8' then used some big washers looks good and nicely out of the way, just gotta fit the take off plate now. Got a bit late last night and need the car for work so need some time when I can make sure its not leaking! Cheers Steve Quote
