Which Oil To Use?

Hey guys,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times but I can't find the answer..

Which oil should I put in the Z? It's currently only had a remap - if that makes a difference.

I'm advised to use 10W-40, but for "Ultimate Protection" use 0W-30, but I'm also not sure on Synthetic, Part-Synth etc..

Any help greatly appreciated.

Scott.

For a real in depth oil analysis for the 350z look up OIL ANALYSIS thread on my350z.com by RESOLUTE.

After reading many pages I opted for Mobil 1 0w40.

Despite being a 40 weight it is thinner than most 40s and closer to a 30.

The 0w rating makes it lower viscosity on ultra cold starts than a 5w which is a good thing.

Easily available at your local Cosctco for under £30 for 5litres ;)

i believe the stock oil is something like 10w30

5-30 im sure.

Personaly any good 5-30 or 5-40 is fine.

+1.

also mirrored by Oilman when i spoke to him in Aotusports last year. No need for 10+wXX or 0wXX oils even for trackdays. The Nismo racing zed uses 5w40 by Motul (300V competition) but for better fuel economy a full synthetic 5w30 is adviced by Nissan for our road going zeds. I have used both and it made fook all on economy :p

The thread by Resolute in my350z is interesting and fundarmentally highlights how good the newer generation synthetic oils are in providing protection whatever weights you use but i think individual driving style and usage will determine how appropriate your oil choice is for your car and the only way to know is by oil analysis. But why spend money to do this when to this regard Nissan/Nismo would have spent millions in R&D to arrive at the conclusion that 5w30 is best for the zed in our UK climate
