Photo Shop or equivalent advice pls guys

I would appreciate some advice please from you more creative types please. I want to be able to edit photos a bit more than the basics that are often available in iphoto. I guess I've said Photoshop as it's the only name I know, is this what I need or not? If so where is the best place to but this or any other suggested prog. All advice greatly appreicated. Thanks

i love photoshop, but it takes some time and effort to learn it properly and use it to its full benefits.

I would give this a shot Graham, I bet it will do most of the things you want to do and its free!

 

After a few months if you start to find it doesn't give you the results you want or you get too advanced for it then you haven't wasted anything

I've used Photoshop pretty much everyday for the last 15+ years. But at home I now use Pixelmator. More than sufficient for most tasks with a similar interface to Photoshop. IMO it's better than GIMP. It's not free like GIMP but it's only pocket change. There is however a free demo.
