Y pipe - noise question

Already got a Japspeed K2 which im quite pleased with ,just wondering how much louder the exhaust will be by adding a Y pipe ?

 

Dont want it stupidy loud!

Not much louder, better flow. Fit a pop charger to increase the noise level, and they are cheaper....

was looking at the y pipe for the tuning/ bhp aspect to go with some other mods i have planned shortly

 

as a matter of interest , how much louder to HFC make to the overall sound i.e berks ?

it will sound better with the Y plus unless youve got pretty new Z then chances are youre Y is about on its way out any hows.

I think I am correct in saying that the stock Y pipe on 06 cars and above are as good as you get, therefore you wont notice any gains with a non oem one. Stick with the OEM and fit HFC, as to the noise levels I dont know.

Would have thought though it will be louder.

HFCs add, subjectively, around 10% to the volume and a bit more bark/rasp.

HR Y pipe is larger than a DE or Uprev car late 07 onwards , but a "good quality" Y pipe will flow lot more than any stock OEM Y pipe.

I've got the nismo y-pipe. Slightly changed exhaust volume to a little bit louder but not much real change. Biggest improvement was decats

We use Motordyne stuff XYZ Y pipe , as we can run a single race cat further back in the exhaust system so helping breathing and still staying 100% MOT legal when used with full de-cats.
