Daryl Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Im due an MOT on the Zed,but im abit worried about where to take it,as im sure id read somewhere that you have to test the rear brakes differently in the Zed (not on rollers) otherwise you screw the LSD up,is this true? If so how do I avoid taking it somewhere that does do it wrong? Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I am off to Abbey for my MOT in a couple of hours Quote
Daryl Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Thats great, but Abbey is miles away from me! Has anyone heard of the specific testing for rear brakes on the Z? Quote
Animal Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Isn't brake testing just done with a Tapley meter? http://www.tapley.org.uk/ Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Im sure any MOT testing place would have dealt with RWD cars before, think you are worrying unduly to be honest. Quote
Daryl Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Your probably right, just wanted to makesure,as i dont want it going wrong. Quote
maz0 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 You are worrying too much, I took mine to a normal MOT place a few months back. They test the brakes at about 5mph at most. Of all the threads I read on line, it would appear that the warning not to do RWD car's on these thing's is more for operator safety than to do with the LSD. Quote
spursmaddave Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Yeah nobody wants any problems, I would just ask the garage and if they look blankly run, run away Quote
SwanageDave Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Someone on here had an MOT and they did the brake test on a rolling road and buggered his lsd. my test station knew not to test it on a rolling road and took it for a run on a normal road. Quote
Ian Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 You could also simply remind them at the start Quote
