djrm Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I know there is a post all about this somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me... All I wanted to know is what tools do I need in order to polish mine up and how do I go about it? And while I'm there, what about polishing the standard strut brace in the engine bay? Thanks! djrm Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 So that guide on plenum polishing, sanding etc... That should also work with the strut brace correct?? Quote
BulletMagnet Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Personally I wouldn't polish the OEM brace, get an aftermarket item that is already polished. Ones like Summit or GT Spec look nicer than OEM anyways Quote
djrm Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 See I quite like the standard strut brace and I think it would look quite good polished up! Quote
djrm Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Or I could paint it the same bronze as my calipers...... Quote
Androo Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 stock strut brace is steel not stainless steel isnt it? Quote
Husky Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 So that guide on plenum polishing, sanding etc... That should also work with the strut brace correct?? I think Husky polished his strut brace Well, yes and no yes of course its a bit of metal and can be polished... however it is not stainless so will rust really REALLY easily. So you need to coat it with laquer, i haven't had the chance to get mine to a painters yet. Quote
Husky Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 believe it or not i put strut brace polish into the search and low and behold viewtopic.php?f=26&t=37388&hilit=+strut+brace+polish Quote
djrm Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Ok then so maybe I will polish then laquer... I have a good freind at a bodyshop who will laquer it for me Quote
Troll Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 An interesting idea would be to polish the inside of the plenum. Would there be flow benefits?? (Lower pressure drops etc) I know some people deliberatley leave inlets unpoilshed to promote turbulence for fuel mixing. Opinions? Quote
Husky Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 been done before i believe, Dcash5 did this for a bit i think try searching his posts? trimming down the metal with a micrometer to hand rings a bell. Quote
