Disconnecting Battery

Recommended Posts

Hi, I done a search, but didnt really find any solid answers so thought I would post up.....

I basically need to feed some wire from the engine bay to the cockpit...

I've read, and had a look but couldnt see much about a gromit behind the battery with an electric loom going through it......fair enough.

To get to it though, I feel as though I have to remove the battery......

Will this bodge up my bose stereo? Will I then need a code, cos I dont have one...

And I know about letting the windows down a few inches.... ha ha

Any advice or knowledge, greatly appreciated

Dan

No need to remove the battery mate. Take off the battery cover, then there are 5 or so plastic pop rivets (like those that hold on all the trim/bumber/etc). This will allow you to remove the plastic covers that make up the bit that the battery cover goes into. It spans from just in front of the battery cover, back to the window and across about halfway of the window. As Ian says, remove the rubber strips and you will see.

This should help (its for US cars so reverse the sides that you do stuff on ;) ) - http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/firewall/

No need to remove the battery, but it's always a good idea to disconnect when doing any electrical work.

Always disconnect the battery negative lead first, that way if the spanner touches between the positive terminal and the car metalwork there is no short circuit of the battery. When reconnecting, connect the positive lead first.

  • 8 months later...

I just did the champion double platinum plugs and the magnecor wires. Should I disconnect the battery to reset the computer and for how long? Just thinking on this the other day because I would guess it would spark different than original plugs.
