Verwood Tyre and Exhaust - BEWARE!

Long story but bare with me.

So today my shiny new Falkens arrive from Camskill.

I work in Verwood, Dorset so I nip round to Verwood Tyre and Exhaust to have my shiny new tyres fitted over my lunch break. Simple job.

I'm quoted £14.10 per corner for fitting, balancing, new valves etc. Bit steep I think but as a mate at work agreed to cover the cost as he wants my old Bridgestone's I go ahead with it anyway.

Come back from lunch an hour later to

Front near 245/45

Front off 225/45

rear near 225/45

Rear off 225/45

I spot this immediately on walking up to the car, as the rotation arrow was wrong, the profiles looked odd as hell. Utterly gobsmacked.

Manager/Owner has gone home. Numpty agrees to sort it and apologises.

I go back to work, call about 15 minutes later asking if he had moved the alloys around because obviously the rears are bigger. Please double check before you refit.

After work I go back, inspect the tyres, ensure the right alloys int he right place. All looks ok. I ask when the manager will be in tomorrow so I can go back to talk to him about it.

Get home, notice my Z centre cap is missing off the nearside rear alloy.

Clean the car, get down with my alloy brush and notice that they have completely carved the rounded lip off my rear offside alloy. Completely, uniformly flattened it off, all the way round.

To say I'm mad does not even cover it. The first mistake was not only stupid, but dangerous. The other stuff is outright damage to my car.

Any advice on what to do next. I intend to go see the manager tomorrow morning first thing, but at this precise moment it's hard to imagine staying cool and not jawing him if he is not cooperative.

The two scrotes who work for him didn't appear to give a @*!#, and i barely got a mumbled apology about fitting the tyres int he wrong place.

Is that the place just up from ktec racing, think its embly ind est or something? Also did cam skill send you one wrong tyre? Just you have three that are 225?

I think it's a typo in first post and means 2 x 225 and 2 x 245 but all put on incorrectly.

I'd be absolutely fuming mate, but try keep your cool with the manager otherwise you wont get anywhere.

Good luck!

So i went in there this morning, very calmly talke dot them. Told them the mistakes were unacceptable and the damage to my tyre wheel should be paid for, or at the very least I would like my money back for the fitting.

Basically the guy was uninterested. He gave me the Z centre cap back which was still sat on his tyre changing machine. Told me his machine couldn't possibly have caused the alloy damage, and went on to try and prove it on different alloys he had int he shop.

He apologised for the original mixup. But nothing else.

So i phoned Trading Standards this morning. They are going to investigate the incorrect tyre fitting as this was dangerous and incompetent, and contravenes the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Verwood Tyre and Exhaust will be getting a visit from an officer supposedly.

They gave me a load of legal spiel to put in a letter to Verwood Tyre and Exhaust, and told me to get a quote for alloy repair to include in it. I should be able to claim repair costs back.

The original cost of fitting I probably can't get back because they did fit the tyres, and corrected their mistake at no extra charge etc.

Sorry to hear that mate  hope u get it sorted. Nottingham area is full of rogue traders like this. :bang: If u ever need anything done in the future best to ask for advice on here. They might be peep near you that knows where to go to if you need any TLC for the Zed. We live and learn. The way i see it..any garages or traders that are not mentioned here on this forum are not worth visiting. I have spent a fortune on mine prior to joining this forum..had never been a member of a car forum before this. I wish i had done a bit of research like some newbies here prior to getting the Zed.
