Dblock Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Hi guys im going to buy some oil from opie later but just wondered what grade people regard as best for the zed? Ill be sticking with Silkolene Pro S like i ran my fto's on but which grades best for the coming weather etc? Your right about the coming weather. I was thinking 5-40 or 5-30 silkolene. I used 5-30w in this service and its runnig great. Quote

Shaun1982 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 That sir is a very good point. I know the FTOOC had it in the FAQ part Quote
Dblock Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 it really does IMO, oil type, battery size, tyre size, bulb size, filter codes, common used part numbers and so on. Saves alot of time. Quote
Shaun1982 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 That reminds me Dblock does anyone recommend a certain oil filter too?Are nissan stupidy priced for theirs? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 That reminds me Dblock does anyone recommend a certain oil filter too?Are nissan stupidy priced for theirs? i used a power enterprise one with my royal purple oil, because thats what envy did with their package, or could have gone OEM or nismo oil filter. but the consensus was the nismo cost more than the PE one but probably wasn't any better. Shaun1982 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 You know what i cant even remember what i put on my fto.lol.I know i looked at the blitz ones & thought sod that for what they cost, its only on the car for about 6 months lol Quote
rtbiscuit Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 PE is £16.34 Nismo veruspeed is £23.50 thats envy prices Quote
Shaun1982 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 So what actually benefit do you get from either of those compared to an OEM? Quote
Shaun1982 Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Just ordered some pro s 5w-30 from Opie Quote
rtbiscuit Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 So what actually benefit do you get from either of those compared to an OEM? i ordered myself a complete service kit from envy, and they were the 2 choices OEM wasn't an option Quote
Shaun1982 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 I havent got a filter yet, contemplated gettin the one opie sell so it all comes at once but decided not too.lol.Ill see what i can get round here Quote
Chris`I Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Think the general consensus is 5w-30 on the road and 5w-40 if you go to the track. 5w-40 is that bit thinker when its hot that it can survive higher temps a bit better. Quote
H5 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 What Chris said.... Silkolene Pro S is good, as is Millers. Both proper oils! Check out the Opie website for details and club discount Quote
Shaun1982 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 I'm a member on opies site so there's something like a fiver off the price anyway.now I just need envy or cs etc for a filter, must be one of them that could get one to me by Saturday.lol if not then il have to get a non gen one as even Nissan haven't got one Quote
