Interior & Exterior Protection

Hi 350z-uk.com,

I am currently a Celica T-Sport owner but that is all set to change at the weekend (hopefully!) when I collect my yellow GT4 :bounce:

My intention is to get the protective treatment inside and out (cannot remember the brand name). I have a quote from Nissan Leeds to do this (£300 give or take), but I figure they use a Contractor rather than do it themselves. Anyone know an independant specialist local to or in Leeds who can do this for me? May also get the missus' A3 done as well, dependant on price of course.

General thinking is the protective coating offered by Nissan for the outside is a waste of time. It's nothing more than a wax treatment. If you are thinking of protecting the paintwork I would recommend speaking to the chaps at paintshiled. Also you can get forum discount with them.

and they are in your neck of the woods. Grantham and Bradford

Thanks for the quick response :D

I can see how Paintshield is most likely a better protector than the wax system, but I'm not sure this is the solution I am after.

Paintshield only protects the front section from what I read, where-as the Nissan one is all over. Not required for protection granted, but I understand the wax gives an all over coat which also repels dirt and brings the car up gleaming after a simple wash. All over metallic is protected also if you believe the sales blurb.

Unless I've been fed some BS, the Nissan system I'm told is guaranteed for something crazy like 10 years, during which time stone-chips and the like are considered warranty.

Furthermore, the Nissan system has interior protection applied to the seats which repels any spillages and make the seats easier to clean.

I am sure Paintshield is the mutts (web-site does a good sales job), but I'm after all over protection with interior also.

My thoughts on Supaguard

Outside - Waste of time. All it is, is a good thick wax. For around £50 you could get yourself all the stuff to do it and have lots left for many years to come.

Inside - It might have some value but I am sure you would be able to pick up a similar product for £20/£30.

The majority of what you are paying for is them doing the work. You only need to look on ebay to see how cheap the actual Supaguard kit is. If I were you I would just buy a kit off ebay and then spend a morning cleaning it and doing it myself. A hell of a lot cheaper than £300.

Here you got - £20 all in

:headhurt: I didn't realise that's all it is  The Meguires system looks more involved than this!

Majority of the cost with Nissan then is labour and profit. Maybe I should just find a top-notch valet shop and have it done by the Pros, rathen than me mess it up

Do we have any recommended valet/protection specialists in/around Yorkshire?

Thanks for your help with this guys

Pretty positive that Supagard, will not protect against stonechips and will definitely not be treated as a warranty claim?

I mean, that would mean they would be respraying or touching up (very well) everytime you had a warrantly claim..... sorry, just can't see it happening.

Pretty sure thats some of the smelly sales stuff. I'd at least double check...... as its been mentioned, Supagard is just a wax type, which is not going to stop stonechips, and as its been pointed out.... you can get yourself off EBay a hell of a lot cheaper!

Err sorry mate but that a load of rubbish somebody has fed you! If stone chips were fixed under warranty we would all be there every week!!! I think the confusion may be that the Supergard guarantee's that you won't need to wax or polish for 10 yrs, but it does not protect the paint.

More importantly we are gonna have another UY GT4 amoungst us :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Pretty sure thats some of the smelly sales stuff.

That was my thought at the time, when the guys at Nissan Birstall were pushing the system. I would however have argued the point if I had bought new and had this system applied only to get chips at a later date.

I am pleased people in the know are happy to protect against theiving dealers! :yahoo:

Paintshield is the only stuff that will protect your car against stone chips. If the paintwork is in good condition its definitely worth considering.

I am told the car is "showroom" condition, but I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it myself :D

PS looks like a good idea, considering the amount of motorway driving I do, which has taken it's toll on my poor Celica. I'll have a further look around their web-site and see what's what

Wes,

What number is your GT4. I've just traded one in that went north to a Nissan dealer.

As for Diamond Brite and Supaguard, both a wate of time. Go for Zaino. I've also had my new car Paintshield by the Guys at G Grantham. Mention this web site and you will get 10% discount.

Cheers

K
