rtbiscuit Posted September 2, 2009 Share Posted September 2, 2009 oil should always be checked on a warm engine. my trick is to drive and fill up its about a 5 min drive. by the time i've then filled up and payed, the level has settled and i take my reading. its the most accurate method of checking oil level. got taught that years ago, and read it in most car handbooks. i think even the haynes manuals say it in there home service section of a variety of cars i've owned.
