mylesmcg Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 i can hear a clicking noise coming from the rear of the car when i take off at slow speeds. anyone know what this is and how to resolve it? i bought my z 3 weeks ago and the dealer gave me 3 months warranty. do you think the warranty will cover repair? S1 HNK Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 do a search, probably the most common fault on the zeds. Nothing to worry about but is curable, worth taking it back especially if you got it from a nissan dealer. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Prolly the "Clicky Rear Axle" problem, do a search on that and you should get a result or two. Seeing that the car is under warranty and this is a common known fault, Nissan should honour the repair under warranty. Quote
mylesmcg Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 unfortunately it wasn't bought at a nissan dealer. will that make a difference? Quote
ZMANALEX Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 ZMANALEX does a kit of bits to repair it. And here it is. viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21842 But I would take it back to the dealer that sold you the car and bend his ear a bit. Good luck. Quote
mylesmcg Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 thanks for your help guys. much appreciated Quote
nurrish Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just a note. I thought i had this issue but in fact it was the platic privacy divider that attaches to the hatch..Even had it booked into nissan...Luckily for me though bennett (GT4zed) realised what it was Quote
Bluerat Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Ive just had this, turned out to be the driveshaft. Quote
H5 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 It is indeed and there are new parts available as per Alex's link above..... Quote
mylesmcg Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 apon further investigation/listening this sounds more like squeeking than clicking. any ideas? only happens at low speeds like coming out of a junction or something Quote
BulletMagnet Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I reckon it's the ARB droplinks, either grease them for short term fix or replace them, again ZMANALEX is your man for these. Quote
mylesmcg Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 i tried greasing the droplinks but the noise is still there. any other ideas? Quote
Ebized Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Do you get the noise when you reverse the car as wel as at take off? If so it is almost certainly the rear axle clicky problem Quote
mylesmcg Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 so far it doesn't make the noise when i reverse Quote
