marzman Posted June 16, 2009 Share Posted June 16, 2009 Hi all, im offering my Sony PS3 for sale. Its in as new condition incl box - i've played it for less than 1 hour altogether! I got it the week before christmas, and watched a few blue-rays on it that i rented, but they're too expensive to buy and i cant copy them - so its no use to me! As for games, im an xbox fan and only play that - so this has sat untouched for the last 6 months! Included is 1 pad, singstar + 2 microphones, Gran Turismo 5 prologue (think thats what its called)? and Resistance: fall of man. Also, i bought an additional hdmi cable for £15. I cant believe the fees now though Firstly, eBay have put a max limit on the postage charge i could specify - so i could only charge £14 - but it actually cost me £22 Secondly, the sale price of the item was £237 - of which Paypal took over £8, and ebay took a 10% final value fee!!!! I'd put in an official complaint and tell them that it cost you more then their upper limit. I've used eBay quite a bit recently to sell loads of old games and bits that were left in my parents loft. For items under £50 its pretty good as any money you lose through fees you can normally 'almost' make back in postage profit. The reason why they are doing it is to compete with the high street prices. The main reason people do not buy on eBay is because of certain sellers extortionate p&p fee's that are blatantly designed to be an extra bit of profit to the seller. Ebay have limited postage costs in some sections to counter this. Also eBay do not get a slice of the p&p money so its in their interests to stop this. You used to see people selling stuff for £1 but with £15 p&p to get around ebay fee's. I listed a Diesel belt today and in that section your not allowed to charge ANYTHING for p&p which means you have to put the starting price higher (incurring higher fee's).............. As others have said it's only worth doing it for cheap items now. The other great change they've made is that as a seller you can no longer leave negative feedback. So the scrote who "won" my item on Sunday, hasn't paid, and is now ignoring my emails, will probably get away with it and there's nothing I can do to alert others to his behaviour. You can issue an unpaid item strike to non paying bidders that recoups your fee's if they don't pay. If they get a few within a short period their account will be suspended. They took away the negative feedback for sellers to stop retaliatory feedback. E.g you sell them a @*!# item and leave -ve FB then you do the same to them.
