IN the latest edition of Auto Express, another product test has been carried out on Hi Octane petrols available from BP, Shell and Tesco. Interesting results will raise a few eyebrows :scare:

Tested on a Vauxhall Astra VXR on a rolling road with an accuracy of +/-1bhp

Regular (95RON) 213.5bhp

BP Ultimate (97RON) 209.7bhp

Shell Optimax (98RON) 222.2bhp

Tesco 99 (99RON) 221.3bhp

How poor is BP ultimate. Surrey's rolling road's Charlie Wright thought the BP must be a bad batch. Surely it must be hard to make a bad batch. It's not like it's hand made.

BP is dearer everywhere you go.

At least Optimax shows a benefit seeing as we need to use it. Can't wait until Tesco sell 99 up here although the local Tesco does nothing but maintain high prices for all garages locally. Luckily I work in Edinburgh where it's 4ppl cheaper.
