Hi Guys hope you all had a good time in wales.

I got back today from a 10day holiday and went to start the Zed but to my horror she wouldn't start.

The starter motor was turning strong but it just wouldn't fire.

I put the car in 1st and rocked it back and forth just to make sure the flywheel wasnt stuck or something. Heard of it happening on old cars.

And then tried it again and it went, however it showed the engine management light.

Will this likely be because i could smell fuel when i was trying to start it and thus when it did start it thought it was running rich?

I've done an ecu reset and it seems fine now. Just want to know some of the experts views.

Its a 56plate with a blitz exhaust and pop charger.

Cheers

Jim

You sure it wasn't just a low battery? The smell of fuel could just be there because you tried cranking it a few times. I'd get a meter on the battery and see what it's doing.

thats what i thought about the petrol smell.

Would a low battery cause it to throw up the CEL light? The started motor sounded pretty strong though, just like normal.

Haven't heard of it myself but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. I am constantly jump starting my Z at the moment so will keep an eye out for it next time I do it.

What was the code when you reset the light? Please tell me you wrote it down...

At the crystal palace meet ill show you the one i got, and you can see it and tell us what you think, was pretty cheap really, and allways comes in handy
