I read in a newspaper years ago about a guy that bought a lion cub from Harrods in London in the 50's/60's and kept it in his flat. As the thing got bigger, the cub was taken away and reintroduced in the wild.

 

There is a video somewhere of the reunion in the wild, and the cat sped towards its owner, and started licking him and jumping on him.
