Anyone want to guess which car plant?

I think rather it's Ellesmere port, GM/Vauxhall up in Merseyside. the owners of the other plants in the UK with the exception of Ford (BMW, Nissan, Toyota, VW, etc) have some cash reserves which mean cash-driven closure is unlikely.

GM are up the creek and very nearly in Chapter 11 - without an additional US Govt loan they'll be there in a month at best.

the world's going to cr4p double time.... un b fecking lievable.. i'm not generally sympathetic with the car manufacturers when they plead poverty... but having seen Saab's predicament on the news + vauxhall + jag + honda mini + nissan i am a convert.....

We need that 2.5k off the gov't if you trade in a scrapper to revitalise teh market.. Germany seem to be loving it.....

Too right, but by the time the government pull the fingers out of their tight arses it'll be too late. It'll take them a year to discuss it in parliament :snack::bang:

2.5k for a scrapper works well. Considering you pay VAT at 15% on the new car price anyway!

Even at 8k it's still £1200 so it's halfway there!

Hav'nt France done this - they will give you so many Euros for your old banger no matter what condition as part ex against a new car (obviously be a French new car) Maybe they are not so dumb!
