kennyc Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 OK got the car, the sat nav system is CD based and dated 2003. I've searched and searched but not been able to find info on updating the maps. Does anyone know if it's possible. Obviously I've seen that the later versions are DVD based... Cheers, Kenny Quote

hagar Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 o/t but I am so glad I didnt get the Nissan Sat Nav a 125 auid Garmin I3 is better! I really didnt like the user interface/remote control thing it seemed very low tech for that price Quote
stevie_350z Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I was quoted 1800 nicker by my dealer for the birdview, and he recommended I didn't buy it and went for the tomtom instead - so not all dealers are bad Quote
kennyc Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 It's all factory installed , CD player's in the cubby hole behind the passenger seat. Wonder if you can just swap the CD box for a DVD and get the updated maps....or no doubt that'll cost hundreds!! I'll check with the dealer today. Quote
Traktion Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 You'd think they (the dealer) could just burn you a copy of one of the ones in the new models they're selling? Or do they try to make a quick buck of that too? Quote
teddyonholiday Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Kennyc You just dont know how much what your suggesting would be a bonus. It just isnt available yet on dvd that is compatible with the hardware in the Z. I have tried the P12 Primera the Y61 Patrol the V11 Tino and also the latest Almera discs but none will update the host system and the systems are locked to teh ecu of the original model of vehicle. Stick with the CDs there are updates available its less hassle and it works. Quote

teddyonholiday Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I think I have the name of the company that supply the updates at home will look it out tonight and post the details. Quote
kennyc Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 Info on update CD's would be great. I called the dealer who said they don't have any updates, only the DVD version that comes with the new cars, he also suggested that to upgrade to DVD would involve changing the whole system, screen and all. I just laughed Quote
kennyc Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 According to the dealer the latest CD version is 2004 and they want £180 for it. I just laughed....again Quote
Nick U Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 That's why I didn't bother going for their Satnav, couldn't believe the extra stuff you need to buy, and the price of it!!! Quote
