  1. The original diagnostic software was a bespoke system called Consult II. I have not seen the latest version which developed on from that version and was intended for pc use.
  2. Sorry I didnt get to read the post before i replied by message. The roof has its own control module as do the windows and the rest of the body the wipers and indicators are again on the main ecm and it reads the lines of interaction of a multiway sswitch so its clear the main ecu has some issues I will get to look at my paperwork tomorrow nad try to get a better answer but i would start scouring the salvage sites for a dead Z. TOH
  3. Private track eg airstrip no limiter and 25% over fueling (diagostic routine) and 173 easily...
  4. I would hope to find out the progression of the fault using this and therefore eliminate any sensor faults first. I personally think it may be the ecu is locking but the fault may not be the ecu itself. I am quite often in Manchester city centre and would offer to have a look but it is unlikely that I will be up there until mid January as I am on three weeks hols at the moment.
  5. The reason for asking for the ecu to be restarted would be to isolate any 1st or 2nd trip codes, these may mask the "pre start" errors that would confirm the type C malfunction . I would want to try all possible faults befor replacing the ecu and a used one would need to checked for NATS compatabilty as it forms part of the immobilser system.
  6. first of all guys the ecu should be isolated. Disconnect the battery for at least 30 mins. Then when the power is restored the ecu should default to factory settings. Only then will the true nature of the fault be seen. Then get the codes read by consult II by a dealer. With that info we can make a far better judgement, the generic code readers can't interprt manufacturers codes properly and this can often leadto bad diagnosis. Get the codes cleared don't attempt to start the vehicle then do the battery bit and then try the start, then if you post up the codes we might be able to help. Best of luck Ted
  7. Dcash5 I have the original 350 ESM and also the first European version (US doctored) and I refer to them as many of the electrical functions of the european model differ from the US and/or the JDM. As for the reset procedure it is actually posted in the Guides Section too. http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10881
  8. There is a throttle pedal and position sensor reset in the Manual it will clear the 12% loss. I will try and post the full procedure later when I return home if someone hasnt already done so. Teddy.
  9. Just to be sure here is the European sequence to register keys. And as if by Magic a picture will appear. Teddy PS it might take till the morning.
  10. I cannot agree that the JDM and the Euro BCM will work they have different mapping of function and have different levels of security (NATS 3 versus NATS 4) The symptoms are indeed a fault in terms of BCM function but I would look closely at the signals (not continuity) from the multi switch. It would appear to have lost the signal at level two and there for will not recognise any further switch modes. The Brown Clip you describe that allows the function to start would be the Earth wire ? this would indicate that the signal path is being shorted to earth and the BCM cannot see the signal as it is being mirrored on earth, when the earth is removed it can see the signal on the input wires. I would at this point post a pic but the board setting are preventing me doing this. I will email to your Dorian OK. Teddy. This leads me to believe that the problem is likely to be in the switch or column area and not in the BCM as this would appear to be working or the wipe and wash etc would not work regardless of what is connected as they can only be "turned on" by receiving a phased wave signal and not just a voltage. Best of luck but make sure you are using an oscilloscope to measure and not just a multimeter as the impedance will smother any signals.
  11. The throttle potentiomenter as with the accelerator potentiometer has two resistance tracks and if the measurement is lost from one track (dirt or cracks) then the ECU shuts down to 1200 rpm maximum until the ECU is reset, the switch off switch on would have cleaered it i fit had been switch off and thevehicle gone through a lock unlock cycle so as to initiate another "drive" cycle. It is not unusual for such an event to occur as the vehicle ages and when the rapid acceleration is required (overtaking or pulling away) the movement may cause the sensor to miss a measurement that in normal operations it would not notice (eg rapid pedal movement or throttle response) therefor IMHO a regular "blast" in terms of pedal and engine performance is a way of keeping thetracks a little more used...:D:D
  12. Sorry to all you guys who have missed me but I have been a bit busy in the new job but I have managed to start finding time to get back on here so if I am needed or if you have a techy probelm you cant solve just PM me and i will try and help.
  13. The strange voltage is a waveform from the encoder, the control of the passenger window is carried out in the drivers window module there is most likely a broken wire to the door post or to the drivers door. The diagrams have been published before but if you havent found them by the weekend i can publish them when I get home.
  14. ANything not disclosed at interview can later be cause for dismissal if it has been asked or implied on a request form. For instance a friend of mine who had some problems when she was 17 in the form of a custodial sentence at for shop lifting now at the age of 36 she failed to include it on an application which asked if she had a criminal record, now given the rehabilitation of offenders she left the section blank as it was more than ten years and legally spent. She was summarily dismissed after the CAB check revelaed the offence, not as the offence was the cause of the dismissal but the "non disclosure" was the offence !!!!! Be honest employers love honesty ! And as for intricate route for dismissal I am at month ten on a disciplinary issue and still cannot legally dismiss even tho the guys has not worked for ten months for one reason or another....
